Today, we laid to rest #OPP Sergeant Brandon Malcolm, a distinguished young leader, and a loved and respected member of the Ontario Provincial Police.
Sergeant Malcolm served as an inspiration to others with his passion and positivity, and spent his entire policing career selflessly protecting Northumberland County. I am beyond grateful for the outpouring of support from communities and partners as we honour the life and sacrifice of our esteemed colleague.
Sergeant Malcolm, may you rest in peace.

As notifications are still underway, the officer’s identity will be withheld at this time. The circumstances surrounding the incident continue to be investigated. On February 21, 1945 OPP Provincial Constable Robert Duncan died while on duty. The circumstances surrounding Bob's death have never been determined. It is believed he fell from a moving train near Port Hope while working at the Newcastle OPP Detachment. Never forgotten. #HeroesInLife

Honour Roll 186: Cpl. Derek John Flanagan died when he was thrown from a moving vehicle this day in 1989. His service was in British Columbia. He was a member of the Vancouver Drug Squad & had volunteered for service on several Emergency Response Teams. #RCMPNeverForget@BCRCMP
On February 14, 1986 OPP Provincial Consatble Randall Skidmore was responding to an incident in the Coboconk area when his police vehicle hit a washed out portion of the roadway on Hwy 503 near the Trent Canal. Randy died when his vehicle rolled over. Randy's service and sacrifice is never forgotten. #HeroesInLife
On January 23, 2006, #VPD Police Service Dog Nitro and his handler, Howard Rutter, were called to assist other officers who had spotted a stolen vehicle. Nitro was released and pursued one of the suspects, who jumped onto a moving train. Nitro latched on, but lost his grip. He did not survive.

One year ago today we lost Detective Constable John Park, a husband and a father, a friend and a colleague. John died on duty, serving the city with pride and distinction.
