[Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 @AbiyAhmedAli]

Fruitful meeting on the #GERD facilitated by @CyrilRamaphosa in the endeavors to strengthen African Solutions to African Problems. I appreciate my brothers @SudanPMHamdok & @AlsisiOfficial for common understanding reached on continuing technical discussions on filling.

@DrTedros Repeating the same mistake, doesn't make it right unless you learn something from it. Peace will not come out of the barrel of the gun.May sanity prevail and may our children live without fear of being hurt by irresponsible adults. We owe it to them.Hugs to your lucky grandchild.

[Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus @DrTedros]

A light time with my granddaughter. The kind of ordinary afternoon that feels like a gift. Watching her laugh, holding her hand, I'm reminded how precious these simple moments are. And even as my heart feels full, it also turns outward, to the families around the world whose days are shadowed by conflict. I think of the parents trying to keep their children safe, the homes left behind, the childhoods interrupted too soon. So I hold both feelings together: gratitude for what I have, and sorrow for what others are enduring.

And I want to say this to the leaders in conflict: please come back to your senses. There is always a political solution. Peace is the best medicine. I wish every child, everywhere, could know the same lightness I saw today. A safe place to sleep, a hand to hold, a day without fear, and the freedom to simply be a kid.

We lost a devoted ethiopian diplomat, an icon of African diplomacy. She was such a gentle and kind soul! May she rest in peace.

[Billene ቢልለኔ Aster Seyoum @BilleneSeyoum]

A female icon and trailblazer of Ethiopian diplomacy who has traversed many spaces when it was rare for women to wade the halls of foreign affairs.

Rest in Power Amb Konjit. 🇪🇹

On this day March 8, I pay tribute to all women, mothers and daughters who, every day, from home to their work place, from refugee to internally displaced camps, with courage and determination, fight for their children, their families, to build a more just and humane world.
It is a call for Rights, Justice and Action to dismantle all barriers to equal justice, discriminatory laws, weak legal protections, harmful practices…that erode the rights of women and girls.
May their strength, resilience and love continue to light our way.
Happy International Women’s Day to all women accross the world!
Today and everyday!!

Did the U.S. fund the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) as President Trump stated?

“First Post” TV asked me that key question during last night’s live interview (video).

My response: No, the U.S. did not fund GERD. I believe the President was misinformed by his advisors.

Under both Republican and Democrat presidents, the U.S. policy has been not to fund GERD, neither directly nor indirectly.

On this #InternationalMothersDay the world honors mothers who raise and shape their children with no exception, who thought us compassion by helping and supporting the most destitute, those displaced carrying their kid on their back, pulling the other by the arm, with some belongings on their head, those paying heavy sacrifices …
It is a day to acknowledge the invaluable and unique role they play in the lives of their children, in the family and society at large.
Let’s have the humility to learn from them and support one another.

[Sahle-Work Zewde @SahleWorkZewde]

@ButaDubi Due respect and honor to the memory of Tsedale's father, General Assefa Ayene who served his beloved Ethiopia with honor and pride. Thank you for sharing these memorable photos of Tsedale and Brook with the Generals.

Very much saddened by the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. He was a moral voice of our time.
I had the distinct honor of hosting him, the first Pope from the Global South, at UNON, the only UN HQ in the Global South of which I was the first Director-General. We witnessed his wisdom, humility, compassion, care for the most vulnerable…
In his visionary address he warned that "the misuse & destruction of the environment are also accompanied by a relentless process of exclusion". That was in Nov 2015. His call for climate justice remains just as urgent.
