A High-level Talanoa on Deep Sea Minerals (DSM) was convened today at the @ForumSEC
The Talanoa reaffirmed the need for deeper conversations on DSM across the region, while maintaining respectful recognition of the different national positions.
On behalf of the government and people of Nauru, HE President David Adeang donated $100,000 to the government and people of Vanuatu as a gesture of support for disaster relief efforts following the magnitude-7.3 earthquake that struck Vanuatu’s capital on 17 December 2024.
HE President Adeang was in Fiji for meetings, commencing with the Micronesian Presidents’ Summit on Friday. The agenda included deep sea mining & minerals & their implications for the region. Key points of discussion included the need for data sharing & regional coordination.
His Excellency President David Adeang attended the inauguration of Nauru Telikom’s 5G telecommunication service, trading as Neotel. This launch marks Oceania's first nationwide 5G+ network service and heralds a new era of connectivity for Nauru.

Establishing a detailed #environmental baseline of the NORI-D area is a key part of our assessment of the environmental impacts of #nodule collection. During our recent integrated collection system test, research teams studied seafloor communities as an indicator of ocean health.
After almost 2 decades, we have landed the high seas treaty. This treaty will contribute to equity and healthy oceans. Nauru was honored & proud to act as cross cutting coordinator for the PSIDS. Now - onward to adoption and entry into force!
