In Nov. 2024, Webb saw the Sombrero Galaxy in mid-infared. The signature, glowing core seen in visible-light doesn't shine; instead a smooth inner disk is revealed. The outer ring, which looked smooth in imaging from Spitzer, shows intricate clumps for the first time.
