IAF should come out of this mindset that if an aircraft has its total technical life left, we will still use it.
We need to keep in mind, aircraft back then were not designed as redundant and safe the platforms today are. Back then aircraft were not that forgiving but now the norms have changed, so from that perspective upgrade is necessary.
