Unified Margin is live on Pacifica!
Pacifica is the first and only Perp DEX where spot collateral is treated as a part of your cross margin, with the perfect capital efficiency of implicit borrowing.
Spot collateral, Perp PnL, and USDC now margin into one account, with no borrowing required to open positions.
Multiple assets, one unified account. 🌊

We're launching unified margin on Pacifica. Unified margin isn't new, but most implementations treat it as a feature checkbox. We treated it as a full rewrite of the risk engine.
Here's the problem it solves. When you trade perps onchain right now you are forced to be an inventory manager. $SOL in one place, USDC in another, margin isolated per trade. Your portfolio is chopped into buckets that don't talk to each other and you're paying an invisible tax on capital efficiency every single day.
With Pacifica's unified margin your spot holdings, cash balance, and open positions all live in the same mathematical bucket. Deposited $SOL registers immediately as live collateral. The engine recalculates your spending power on every oracle tick, checks the live price, applies a LTV discount for volatility, and credits your available margin instantly. You don't sell your $SOL to trade. You hold it and use its value to back derivatives positions.
Think about what this means if you're running basis. Spot long, perp short, capturing funding. On most platforms you need separate capital for each leg so you're double deploying capital for a single strategy. With unified margin the spot $SOL you're holding as the long leg is the collateral backing your short perp on Pacifica.
It gets better. We built an auto lending pool directly into the exchange engine instead of bolting on a separate lending vault or protocol. The system knows how much unused capital every user has at any given second and aggregates that surplus into a global borrow/lend pool. Any excess margin beyond what your position requires is earning lending yield in the background automatically.
What makes this different from other platforms is that borrowing only kicks in when your PnL goes negative. You're never paying interest on a winning position. Most lending systems start charging you the moment you open a leveraged trade regardless of how it's doing. Here you only pay when you actually need the capital.
So on that basis trade you're stacking funding rate spread, spot exposure, and passive lending yield on the same capital.
$SOL collateral is live at launch. ETH and BTC next.
Unified margin is live on testnet right now. Come try it and see the difference for yourself before mainnet launch. Join https://t.co/mupYllzQnN to give feedback.

Step by step guide of how to test unified margin on Pacifica Testnet:
Getting Started:
1/ Go to https://t.co/foLSUNRZrr and connect your wallet.
Click on “Faucet” to request Devnet SOL and SPL tokens (we recommend to not mint mock USDP for testing unified margin). After that, click on “Deposit” on the top right corner and deposit the SPL tokens and SOL into the exchange.
The invite code for testnet is Pacifica
Today has been a hard day for the Solana community. Our thoughts are with everyone affected.
At Pacifica, user funds are a responsibility we have put first and foremost from the very start.

How Pacifica Pre-Markets Work (and why they're not what you think)
We're seeing questions about our @Backpack pre-market. Let's break it down for everyone.
"Is this a fake token?" No. You're trading a perpetual futures contract on Backpack's token before it launches. Same as how Binance or Hyperliquid run pre-markets. It's a real derivative market with real PnL.
"What happens when Backpack officially launches the token?" The moment it goes live on a major exchange, we incorporate that exchange’s price feed into our oracle. If the ticker ends up being something other than $BP, it doesn't matter as the oracle is converted seamlessly. Your positions and PnL carry over. Nothing changes on your end.
"What's a pre-market perp?" Pre-market perpetuals have become a common venue for traders to get early exposure/hedging to high-conviction tokens, as well as an organic tool for price discovery before the token officially launches. In the past, Pacifica has listed pre-markets for $MON (Monad), $MEGA (MegaETH), $LIT (Lighter), and now $BP.
"Who decides the price?" Pacifica decides the listing price based on public available information such as valuation for the recent fundraising. Afterwards, the price is entirely determined by the free market.
"How is this different from Polymarket?" Polymarket lets you bet on discrete outcomes: will Backpack's FDV hit $500M? $1B? $2B? You pick a bucket and it's binary yes/no.
Pacifica gives you continuous price exposure. You go long or short at an actual price and profit from every move up or down like how you trade other perps.
Think of it this way: Polymarket is options. Pacifica is perpetuals.
"How does pricing work with no live token?" Since there's no external price feed yet, we use our own mark price as the oracle, smoothed by a longer EMA than traditional perpetuals. This prevents short term manipulation of the orderbook and ensures more stable price discovery.
Additionally, Pacifica enforces price bands and strict open interest caps as an additional protection to users.
Hope this clarifies your questions about Pacifica pre-markets. Pacifica undergoes an extensive review process for the listing of any asset, pre-market or otherwise, and as fellow exchange operators, we have nothing but respect and good wishes for @Backpack and its amazing community!
imo the best perp UI is the one that minimises the amount of mental maths the user needs to do
when you're massively underwater and scavenging your wallets for margin, even selling assets, you want to know how much margin you need to add to get your liq price to the price you want
after a lot of FAFOing and much mental strife and anguish using many perps UIs in very difficult situations last month, I came up with the following perps UI wishlist
I want to know:
1) if I add/remove x margin, what will be my new liq prices? Before I add/remove the margin
2) if I have a bunch of reduce only orders, I want the order tab to show me the pnl I would incur if all of them hit
3) I want to see my limit order, liq and TP/SL as lines on the chart before I confirm my order
4) I want to set post-only TP/SLs before I place my order (you need a scheduler for this)
5) I want my fills to be aggregated into trades on the trade history tab
6) I want to see my upnl, rpnl, total pnl, exchange fee, builder fee per lot
7) I want to see my rpnl, upnl, fees and total pnl on my position while it's open and in the history after its closed
8) I want to see my builder, platform and total fees per position
9) I want to see my lifetime builder, platform and total fees
there is no UI that has all of these features and I still don't understand why
I sent this wish list to many builder code apps and perp DEXs, and to pacifica's credit, they have been the first to start acting on it by implementing #1 and also displaying a position's breakeven price
there's still a long way to go (it would be great if the tab didn't take up up to 4.5GB of memory lol), but these changes have already made a big enough difference that I find myself wishing I was using pacifica's UI when trading on other DEXs, as required.
was curious so looked a bit more into the OB as shown by @chameleon_jeff (this is BTC)
view this data and more at https://t.co/oFgjrGLV4y
just looking at the book (excl. fees): at larger sizes (50K++) both @extendedapp and @pacifica_fi do quite well, while @Lighter_xyz has fallen off quite significantly, and @HyperliquidX is defo still king at whale sizes
shows very clearly that active incentives played a big part in lighter's volume / depth, while we can't safely assume otherwise for extended etc. which still have active points campaigns
even more telling is that hyperliquid is still doing so strongly while not having an explicit points campaign
while they may or may not have implicit points ongoing, it's all speculation (unlike weekly points releases) and that defo deters many more farmers
disclaimer: this is a snapshot and things can change, but have seen this quite a bit over time
