@TheMelanatedTi1 Mmm I hear you! There are many Latinx folks with African roots that do not recognize this heritage unfortunately. There is still sooo much identity work to be done. So many internalizations. But it is important to note that not all Latin folks may have African heritage.
@edwinvarach @henyconcrnberri Systemic racism did not originate in the 19th century. The xenophobia was founded in the fear of Black rebellion on the island. A tactic to create division between the colonies. It stems from colonialism and the oppression of Black people. Not from Haiti nor any conflict b/w both
@edwinvarach @henyconcrnberri Hello, one of the creators here. There is no information missing (Haitian occupation, I’m assuming) that needed to be included in this post. There is a reason it was not. The purpose and objective of the post is tracing anti-Black sentiments to colonialism. Not a history of DR.
@Orielsy@henyconcrnberri Haití also helped DR’s liberation against Spanish rule. But I guess that part is always conveniently left out. Mmm, could it be stemming from whats written on the post? 🤔
