When it comes to making connections with students, it’s important to remember that they too are trying to figure you out.

Unfortunately some of our students have been let down by adults in their life, so they want to be certain before letting you in.

Be persistently patient.

I'm good with giving the student who needed four attempts to demonstrate mastery the same grade as the student who only needed one attempt.

Expecting each student to master the same skill at the same time is akin to asking each student to wear the same size shirt.
