Today marks the 109th anniversary of the #Seyfo #Genocide. In 1915, hundreds of thousands of #Armenians, #Assyrians, and #Greeks lost their lives at the hands of the #Ottoman Empire and #Kurdish tribes.

On Sunday, #Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson attended the #Assyrian New Year (ܚܕ ܒܢܝܣܢ) parade on King Sargon Boulevard (a part of Western Avenue).

The New Year, year 6774, signifies the start of spring.

Assyrians will officially mark the occasion on April 1.
