What won't change in the next 10 years?

Things I've been writing down over time:

- Humans will always need shelter, food, energy, and healthcare.
- The desire for ownership and the accumulation of wealth.
- The physical world will move more slowly than the digital one.
- Every increase in technological capability, especially AI, will require more energy.
- People and businesses will continue to need access to capital.
- Capital will continue to seek returns that exceed inflation.
- Underwriting methods evolve, but demand for credit (loans) is persistent.
- Trust remains scarce and becomes increasingly valuable as content, code, and fraud become cheaper.
- Verified identities and reputation becomes more important as information becomes abundant and synthetic.
- Long-term wealth creation and dynastic (multi-generational) thinking predate modern technology, and will persist.
- Coordination and transaction costs never fully disappear; market friction will continue to justify the existence of firms and intermediaries.
- People will continue to compete for status.
- Consumers will pay a premium for products and services that confer status.
- Time remains fixed at 24 hours per day.
- But attention is a finite resource and an enduring constraint.
- Products that credibly save time (or enable delegation) have a perpetual market.
- Inaccessible, proprietary data will be a persistent moat. The more inaccessible and difficult to aggregate, the deeper the moat.
- People want accountability, recourse, and clearly identifiable responsibility when things go wrong.
- Regulation consistently lags technological innovation.
- Compliance requirements, licensing, and regulatory moats persist even when machines can perform the underlying task.
- Local knowledge remains valuable and difficult to replicate.
- Heterogeneous markets (like real estate) continue to reward people with deep contextual understanding.
- Incumbent organizations tend to underinvest in disrupting their own businesses, which always creates opportunities for challengers.

Bezos' insight on what wouldn't change in 10 years was "Customers will always want lower prices and faster delivery."

It's boring/ true, but I think that's the point.

Everything we build today can and will be rebuilt more cheaply, faster by someone else.

Build on the invariants, not the trends.

- The DoF are distributed anatomically rather than evenly, deliberately biased toward a thumb that genuinely opposes the fingers.
- In-house tendon-driven, quasi-direct-drive running low gear ratios of ~5:1 to 15:1 vs the typical 100:1–200:1.
- Motors live in the forearm and pull tendons through the wrist. This keeps the hand light and its inertia low while producing high forces.

Sensing

- All 25 DoF are natively force-controlled and fully backdrivable. Every joint doubles as a force sensor.
- Very important, closed-loop proprioception: it always knows its own pose and effort without looking.
- Tactile skin across the fingertips and surfaces measuring contact and shear. This helps with adaptive gripping in real time.

Safety and durability

- IP68 waterproof and food-safe, so it can wash its own hands.
- Compliant by construction: the low gear ratios, tendon drive, and low distal inertia let external impacts safely backdrive the fingers. It yields when hit by a hammer or caught in a drawer.
- Full finger assemblies validated to millions of cycles.

Manufacturing

The AI-controlled robots were supplied by Booster Robotics for the tournament and have the skills of 5 to 6 year old children.

Robots were seen getting carried off the field on stretchers after falling over.

Booster Robotics founder Cheng Hao says the robots' abilities will exponentially increase over time and will eventually challenge adult teams.

Mensen, ik woon al ruim 20 jaar in het M-Oosten. Dus laat me u deze tips geven:

-Niemand weet wat er precies gaat gebeuren. Politici niet, bevolking niet, ik niet, u niet.

-Alle partijen doen aan censuur, propaganda en zijn bevooroordeeld. De ene wel minder dan de ander.

-Wantrouw verwesterde activisten uit het M-Oosten die buiten het M-Oosten wonen. Ze vertegenwoordigen vaak slechts een zeer kleine minderheid.

-Wantrouw activisten, journalisten, politici en analisten die het steeds hebben over "de Iraniërs", "de Syriers", "de Irakies". De realiteit is veel gecompliceerder en vaak genuanceerder.

-Focus op informatie, niet op meningen.

-Wantrouw mensen die te stellig zijn.

-Negeer Westerse analisten die het steeds hebben over Westerse zaken als democratie, lgbtq, bevrijding etc etc. Dit zijn bijna altijd wensdenkers. Hartstikke leuk in een talkshow om 03:00 uur 's ochtends maar ze staan buiten de werkelijkheid. Alles bekijken door een Westerse bril is dodelijk als je het Oosten wilt begrijpen.

-Luister naar lokale stemmen in de regio. Ja, velen zijn subjectief maar als je dat weet kan je een conflict van vele kanten bekijken. Al die verschillende lokale stemmen zijn puzzelstukjes, aan jou de taak om de puzzel in elkaar te zetten.

-Lees een paar geschiedenisboeken of kijk documentaires over de regio waar je een mening over hebt.

-Leer van het verleden. Vergeet niet dat vrij recentelijk nog honderden miljoenen Westerlingen ervan overtuigd waren dat de lokale bevolkingen van Afghanistan, Irak, Libië, Syrië etc de Westerse grootmachten om de nek zouden vliegen uit dankbaarheid voor de bevrijding. En al deze landen zouden democratieën worden. We weten allemaal hoe het er nu voorstaat in deze landen en door welke nachtmerries Irak, Afghanistan, Libië en Syrië zijn gegaan.

-Begrippen als "vrijheid" of "rechtvaardigheid" hebben vaak hele andere betekenissen in het Westen dan in het Oosten - en andersom. Veel Westerlingen zitten gevangen in het ideologische juk van "iedereen overal ter wereld is gelijk". Daar klopt natuurlijk niets van. Mensen overal ter wereld zijn GELIJKWAARDIG, maar (gelukkig) NIET GELIJK. Dus probeer fundamentele culturele verschillen te begrijpen en te vieren ipv te bestrijden. Er is niets vervelenders dan Westerlingen die hun way of life opdringen aan volledig andere samenlevingen. Net zoals het hyper irritant is als Oosterlingen hun way of life opleggen in het Westen. Motto is - Live and let live.
