@Mexicanopiumdog Thanks! Yes, there is untouched nature left here, and what's left is stunning and sizeable. But sadly, there is a real environmental crisis here due to lack of education and poverty of the general population. Lots and lots of burnt land, 90% of original forest cover gone.
Just under 2 weeks properly in the country, Madagascar so far has yielded a large variety of sound recordings. From strangely croaking frogs, dripping rainforest ambiences to singing lemurs and echoing stillness of canyons & deserts. There is a lot to discover. #fieldrecording

My car is ready for tomorrow, when I start a 5 weeks recording trip through Madagascar. My bother & dad, who join me in 3 days time, will travel along for a few weeks. Meanwhile I'm dusting off any lingering high school French when talking to locals... Going to be a good trip.
@theGeorgeVlad @riewoe Not this time, as it is the start of the rainy and cyclone season in that part of the country and I will be chiefly traveling by car. I had Marojejy on the itinerary for a long time but dropped it too. But I'm considering to go to the North East next year.
One day til my next field recording trip, destination Madagascar, targets: wailing Indri lemur, rainforests, spiny forests, caves, scorched-earth and lakes - and chiefly, the very remote, unexplored canyons and forests of the Makay massif. Photo of Makay by Evrard Wendenbaum.
