I hate weather weenie halloween; what do you mean you're dressed as the train car that was lofted across a field by the Enderlin tornado on June 20th, becoming the first EF5 damage indicator in 12 years
On July 6, 1994, fourteen wildland firefighters gave their lives on Storm King Mountain during the South Canyon Fire near Glenwood Springs. Twelve firefighters were unable to outrun the blaze and perished. Two more helitack firefighters were also killed as they tried to flee to the northwest. Today marks the anniversary of that event, and we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice:
Prineville Hotshots: Kathi Beck, Tamera Bickett, Scott Blecha, Levi Brinkley, Douglas Dunbar, Terri Hagen, Bonnie Holtby, Rob Johnson, Jon Kelso
Missoula Smokejumper: Don Mackey
McCall Smokejumpers: Roger Roth, Jim Thrash
Helitack: Robert Browning, Jr., Richard Tyler

The main tornado warned circulation had my former professor Dr. Scott Landolt who was out chasing with us call a likely tornado north of I-76 at around 8:30pm. We had been on the storm since about 8:00pm. This damage seen above is different from that.
@NWSBoulder Damage occurred 1/2 miles south of I-76 mm 73 on county road 12. I believe it happened at 8:33 PM as positioning lines up with the dust kick up from a likely gustnado at right edge of frame in this photo.
@JVP_wx Did you happen to see a Landspout on that cell south of Brush within the last 10 minutes or so? Thought I saw something that looked like it but really far away on US-36.
@swrightCO@Crusty_ozzy I also went to Chugwater yesterday. Then went to La Grange before sitting in Pine Bluffs, where that initial storm went up within a stones throw of where we were sitting. Chose that location based on the last time I was there from my observations of severe weather course.
Been hard at work covering this outbreak of tornadoes from yesterday and finally getting some time to post. This morning I interviewed Tony Matulis who survived a powerful tornado just South Gosport, Indiana last night as his house was completely destroyed around him. He tells me his brother, who lives in a camper out back came running in and pounding on the door screaming there was a tornado coming. They had just enough time to get into the bath tub and cover themselves before the tornado hit and destroyed both the RV and home. But, there was some heart warming news as this morning they found out their chicken Wall-E survived the storm! #INwx @accuweather
