Another way of thinking about this is like when you wave the garden hose back and forth making a “S” shape of in the air, the water still travels to the ground at the same rate, but the point of contact where the water and the ground meet darts back and forth much faster than your hand is traveling back and forth. By this logic the only thing faster than light are the shadows that are cast on it (close to the source)
