Mammoth Freighters, which performed the passenger-to-freighter conversion of N705DN released a statement on yesterday’s low pass. They say the current owner was in control of the aircraft at the time. FAA records show Jetran LLC as the registered owner. https://t.co/MrW0vLReg6
My guess is that this Boeing 777-200F low pass, soon to be delivered to Qatar Airways, was a way to celebrate the completion of the conversion deal. Horseshoe Bay Resort airport definitely cannot accommodate B777 for normal operations.
But that right wing was 10ft from ground!
Que raso!
Um 777-200LR(F) que está em processo de preparação para entrega para a Qatar foi visto dando esse rasante espetacular sobre o Horseshoe Bay Resort Jet Center, no Texas!
Esse foi baixo!
Jetran, the 777 operator at the time of the low-pass incident at Horseshoe Bay has issued a statement.
"We are aware of a video circulating on social media showing a freighter aircraft conducting a low-pass flight in a manner that does not reflect operational standards. While the aircraft is painted in Qatar Airways livery, it was not owned or operated by Qatar Airways, did not carry a Qatar Airways registration, and the pilots on board were not Qatar Airways pilots. The aircraft was undergoing a final pre‑delivery test flight prior to its planned entry into the Qatar Airways Cargo fleet. We expect the relevant parties and authorities to investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate action."
It is also understood that the crew were under contract by another ferry company that provides services for lessors.
Mammoth Freighters says the Qatar Airways-liveried B777 freighter seen making a dramatic low pass in Texas was under the control of its current owner at the time of the maneuver, and was NOT operated by Qatar Airways.
The aircraft is still owned by another party, was flown by non-Qatar pilots, and is undergoing final preparations before delivery to Qatar Airways Cargo.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has ordered emergency inspections of 16 Airbus A380 aircraft after cracks were discovered in a structural component inside the wings of one of the superjumbos.
Airbus, Europe's largest aircraft manufacturer, confirmed that 15 of the affected aircraft are operated by Dubai-based Emirates and one by Australia's Qantas. Five Emirates aircraft have been ordered to undergo inspections before their next flight.
The checks will focus on the wing mid-spar, a key structural element inside the wing box that helps distribute the stresses generated during flight.
