Israel's problem is being too strong and visibly dominant, thus competing with US dominance in the Middle East. A global empire like the US cannot allow a local power like Israel to become regional hegemon. So after cutting Iran down to size, with Israel's help, now the US empire feels compelled to do it to Israel via Iran. That's what empires do. It is called the Lord Curzon Rule (look it up), and is a kissing cousin of Divide et Impera. So, longer term the US Deep Empire will try to bend Israel via Iran. First step would be for Trump to try and topple Bibi, who doesn't bend the knee, just as the US has tried to do to Modi via Pakisan. (Ask MISO retirees.) It won't work, just as trying to topple Modi hasn't.

So when the US spends Capex and Opex to improve the subsidiary's position, the gains-- Gaza, Lebanon-- belong to the Empire, with the sub's CEO getting a bonus & a smile. Bibi said No, we are not an agent, we are a principal, we have a piece of equity in the gain, and in future we don't even need payment. We'll do a spinoff & go IPO in Mumbai & own it all. Rubio-Gabbard would work, only she'd rather run as a Democrat. Rubio-Luna wouldn't work, because both are from Florida. The problem is that a Rubio/Vance split will also split the GOP, and would mean a GOP loss. A unified caucus is one of the best indicators of a party's presidential win. Hillary lost also because the Dem caucus was split between her and Sanders.
