One of the few certainties in life is that our bodies will someday fail. Yes it's uncomfortable; so why not sit with that discomfort,
explore the idea, discover the peace which exists within understanding and acceptance?
New: Kendall said the system has locked ‘millions’ out of work and called it ‘dysfunctional’ as it places people in binary categories of either ‘fit for work’ or ‘not fit for work.’
IT LITERALLY DOESN’T. Universal Credit has 3 groups:
- Fit for work
- Prep for work
- Can’t work
If you are willing to freeze Personal Independence Payments (PIP) and cut incapacity benefit to disabled people suffering, you cannot be trusted to deliver assisted dying legislation.
@iainjwatson@UKLabour@DavidPintoD And how many of these have actual, lived experience of navigating this system, rather than relying on ableist media and societal propaganda?
@christapeterso 37% and 28% of service users were not cancer patients. That's not a statistically insignificant proportion. Let's talk about the number of those *with any condition, including cancer* who opt for suicide due to their unmet needs, eg appropriate pain relief or financial support?
The most INFURIATING thing about developing a chronic illness that prevents us from working is having people tell us “you just dont want to work.” when in reality ALL we did before we got sick…was work. And a lot of us LOVED what we did too. Which makes that even more offensive
@vee_etc And I'm so sorry I'm not alone in the experience. It took me a long time to connect the dots between the two, you explained it very well here. However, knowing this happens is an important step forwards 💪
Scientists have found what they call 'the master regulator' of the immune system in the human brain. If it holds up it's a stunning discovery that could transform treatments for autoimmune disease and post-viral illnesses. What did they find, and how?🧵
Disabled activists protesting outside parliament have spoken of their horror at the government releasing new plans to cut disability benefits on the same day MPs were debating the idea of legalising assisted suicide.

Removing someone's accessibility aid from them (wheelchair, cane, glasses, mask etc) without their consent is assault & violates civil rights.
Cops have been removing masks from people they are arresting.
@SocialistVoice Are they actually going to work with employers to create accessible jobs for disabled people, with an understanding that reasonable adjustments are required by law? Cos if not what's the actual end goal here? Is it not just yet more performative cruelty against vulnerable people?
Labour are losing seats to Greens & Independents because they're offering a genuine, & better alternative to this poxy status quo. But the Labour Party & our piece of shit political Commentariat... "Nah, its gotta be Muslims"
@StephTaitWrites @ElaineVigneault Hahaha she blocked me rather than respond to my calling out her ableism. I've now reciprocated that block. She's gonna have a tough old time with that attitude when, one day, disability affects her! And next time I know to save my energy for those who actually deserve it.
@StephTaitWrites @ElaineVigneault Wish I hadn't wasted my energy! What a sanctimonious over-reaction! Will block too, and won't bother engaging with those who think they know my life better than me.
Johnson got paid £2,291 an hour by the offshore billionaire Barclay brothers for writing a column in the Telegraph. They wanted Brexit, he delivered it. Meanwhile, the Telegraph was receiving around 500k a year from Russia to publish a Russian propaganda supplement. Join the dots.

@coffeeteanxiety @IainEzra @cv_cev@1goodtern@LongCovidSOS@long_covid@LCNMUK ☝️THIS. I try to gently ask and educate about reasonable adjustments and explain it's for the good of everyone's health to avoid infections, but it's got so bad often I now don't even bother trying. I don't have sufficient capacity to do all the things required of me to survive.
@IainEzra @cv_cev@1goodtern@LongCovidSOS@long_covid@LCNMUK I'm a disabled person who politely asks and often am treated as though I'm either requesting the moon on a stick or that I'm insane for caring about not wanting more disabilities. Every infection knocks my health down further, but frequently I'm left feeling like I'm the problem.
