@BIG_PARMENIDES dont deprive your descendants of the gift of existence just because theyd have you for less years than if you started young. people stat young but life happens some die and so your kids lose parents. now what.
Since Churchill, only one British PM has served long enough to serve under multiple monarchs, Liz Truss--and that means she is obviously the most successful PM.
@nntaleb thank you. I have always wondered how you can say a person is 100% "ethiopian" or xyz when such is already an admixture. so 100% of this common admixture? curious
@dannynolan64@DanielJHannan@Keir_Starmer steel is the basis of a whole gamut of manufacturing. you lose steel it has a system wide effect which is precisely why this was nationalized
@TonamiPlayman "anti-dumping protections" for one of the most commoditized products on the global markets produced everywhere at more or less similar cost basis. Its not Chinese steel or solar panels its processed OIL. Haha
@D4vidMcConnell @Fremond_@serenelyjoyful I'm not sure what the problem is you have with this. Having steel production is strategically important yes. Absolutely. Its the basis of having industry. Is it a problem that its not financially viable without nationalization. Yes, but its important to keep production going
@dannynolan64@DanielJHannan@Keir_Starmer ok so whats your formula for being an industrial power or is that no longer on the cards for you? just become totally dependent on the chinese?
@Fremond_ @D4vidMcConnell @serenelyjoyful production vs demand are two separate issues you're conflating. If British steel was competitive, excess production could still be exported, it need not lead to shuttering of industry
@worstall@DanielJHannan@Keir_Starmer "plenty of steel production" ok so about a day of Chinese output. Are you serious about restoring British power or are you happy being a vestigial outpost of the Americans and utterly inconsequential in the face of the Chinese
