Hi @Meta@metaindia
Why have you restricted my account? Verbal enquiries at your India office revealed that my account has been restricted in India and is unavailable in India. Why? Noone in your office is giving any reasons. Noone is suggesting how restrictions can be removed. All emails written have elicited no response other than routine acknowledgement.
Thats pretty bad service.
Don’t bow down to our Prime Minister so much. Else he will allow u to run only his own account in India.
Who Allowed Pellet Guns Against Students?
Supreme Court hearing:
This hearing exposed something that should worry every Indian.
The lawyer told the Supreme Court that she had done a deep research from 1967 till today and could not find a single standing order or regulation of Delhi Police that even mentions the use of pellet guns or even mentions the weapon of pellet gun. Not one.
She said pellet guns were first used in Kashmir, later in 2016, there was a 2011 SOP by a task force headed by the Union Home Secretary and a 2016 high powered committee report. But where is the Delhi Police standing order authorising their use against protesters?
If such an order exists, put it before the Court. If it does not, then on what legal basis were pellet guns fired at students?
This is exactly the question every citizen should be asking.
Forget politics for a moment. Imagine your own son or daughter standing in that protest. A weapon that can permanently damage eyesight or any organ should never become the default response to students demanding to be heard.
Nobody is saying police should stand helpless. Police have every right to protect themselves. But there is a world of difference between controlling a mostly peaceful crowd of students and using a weapon whose consequences can last a lifetime.
The judges have now said they want to lay down a proper protocol. Whether pellet guns should be used at all and if yes, then in what circumstances.
Every injured student deserves an answer.

Telangana Police are collecting extensive personal details of domestic worker in Hyderabad using a Google form. They used to do this before using their HawkEye app until they suffered a major breach. This is going to mean increased surveillance of workers

#WATCH | Delhi: After chairing the meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications & IT, Committee Chairman and BJP MP Dr Nishikant Dubey said, "...The second question is that Meta India removed the Prime Minister's content. This is not the first time Meta India has done this. If you recall, Zuckerberg himself made a statement in January regarding the 2024 elections and later apologized. This shows that his intention is to destabilise the country. When a video of the Prime Minister of India can be removed, and they themselves admitted that the content was missing for five hours, from 12:30 am to 5:00 am, this is a very serious matter. Our committee has said two things and has clearly stated that the apology should come from Zuckerberg. If Zuckerberg does not give it, then the safe harbour protection under Section 79 should be withdrawn from him. CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) is another issue. YouTube also has that content. Meta also has that content, and they do not remove content related to child abuse. They do not remove content related to women. Both these rules of the Government of India are very strict, and on top of that, they do not listen to the Home Ministry. They do not listen to the IT Ministry either. So, we have said that in all these matters, and in many other matters, you know that the Chief Minister of the Congress government of Telangana has filed an FIR against Meta India. We have said that safe harbour should be removed in all these matters..."
“To comply with upcoming laws in India like the DPDP, we are testing privacy-protective ways for people to confirm their age. This doesn’t change how WhatsApp works or your experience. We understand that information about someone’s age is private and it won’t be shared.." - WA
New: WhatsApp is testing an age self-declaration feature for users with Indian numbers to comply with the pending provisions related to processing of children’s data in the DPDP Act, a company spokesperson said.

My third fact-check has now been restricted in India. Instead of cracking down on fake news, they're tightening the screws on fact-checks that expose it. Excellent work, government. Keep it up!
I have documented hundreds of Instagram accounts that exist solely to spread fake and misleading content through videos and graphics, many of which receive millions of views. See the thread below for just a few examples.
Yet instead of taking action against these accounts, Instagram has restricted three of my fact-check videos in India.
Delhi Police has filed an FIR regarding abusive social media posts against PM Modi and asked X to provide details about account posted the videos.
The FIR was filed over a complaint that “derogatory, malicious and defamatory content is being circulated on social media platform targeting constitutional heads”.

Modi government made Instagram block this post in India. The post simply captured pictures of resistance displayed by women at the students’ protests. @PMOIndia@GoI_MeitY@AshwiniVaishnaw@DelhiPolice - it is not unlawful to post pictures from the protest. We won’t be silenced!
