H.E. Ambassador Riaz Piracha (1924–2011) was a prominent Pakistani diplomat who served as the Ambassador of Pakistan to Belgium, Luxembourg and the EEC from October 1968 to October 1970.

In his illustrious diplomatic career, H.E. Riaz Piracha held several high-ranking positions, including serving as Ambassador to Afghanistan and High Commissioner to India. His distinguished career culminated in his rise to the highest position in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; he served as Pakistan's Foreign Secretary from 1980 to 1982.

During his tenure, H.E. Ambassador Riaz Piracha focused on expanding Pakistan's economic footprint in Europe. In this regard, he signed the agreement for preferential *Trade in Handicraft Products:*

H.E. Ambassador Riaz Piracha strengthened Pak-EEC Relations, ensuring that Pakistan remained deeply integrated with the emerging European economic structure during the EEC's formative years.

Today we mark the commendable services of H.E. Ambassador Riaz Piracha.

بھارت میں اقلیتوں خصوصاً مسلمانوں کے حقوق سلب کیے جا رہے ہیں۔ بھارت دہشتگردی کو بطور پالیسی استعمال کرتا ہے اور بین الاقوامی سط�� پر بھی ملوث پایا گیا ہے، کلبھوشن یادیو کیس میں بھی یہ بے نقاب ہوا ہے۔

ہمیں یقین ہے بھارت پاکستان میں دہشتگردی میں ملوث ہے، شواہد موجود ہیں، ہم مقابلہ کرتے رہیں گے۔ بھارت کو اِس دہشت گردی کی پالیسی میں مکمل نکامی ہو گی اور منہ کی کھانی پڑے گی جیسے آپریشن بنیان المرصوص میں کھانی پڑی۔

بھارتی عسکری قیادت کے بیانات ان کی شکست کا اعتراف ہیں، آپریشن سندور 2 ایک admission of defeat ہے۔

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call this evening from H.E. António Costa, President of the European Council.

During their cordial conversation, the two leaders exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East. The Prime Minister shared with President Costa the latest updates on Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach and peace efforts.

President Costa expressed deep appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue and stability in the region, and said that the EU was ready to support this process, in every possible manner.

Both leaders stressed on the need to continue with dialogue and diplomacy to ensure lasting regional and global security. In this regard, the two leaders also agreed to remain in touch.

Received a telephone call from H.E. António Costa, President of the European Council, this afternoon.

We exchanged views on the ongoing hostilities in the Middle East and agreed that dialogue and diplomacy must prevail in order to restore regional peace and stability.

I briefed him on Pakistan’s ongoing mediation efforts, which he welcomed and supported.

We also discussed strengthening Pakistan-EU relations, including the importance of GSP Plus and the upcoming Pakistan-EU Business Forum in Islamabad, scheduled for end-April. I look forward to visiting Brussels at a mutually convenient date. I also conveyed good wishes for EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 arrived in Brussels today on an official visit to participate in the 7th Session of Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue and the 4th EU-Indo Pacific Ministerial Forum to be held from 20-21 November 2025 in Brussels.

Upon arrival, the DPM/FM was received by the Foreign Secretary, Amna Baloch @amnabaloch4, Ambassador of Pakistan to Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU, Rahim Hayat Qureshi @rahimhayat, and officers from the Pakistan Embassy.

During his visit, besides leading the Pakistan delegation in the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue and Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum, the DPM/FM will also engage in meetings with his counterparts from different countries and senior EU officials.

Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 chaired a high-level inter-ministerial meeting to review various aspects of Pakistan’s trade enhancement strategy and economic diplomacy.

The meeting was attended by SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, Secretaries of Commerce and Human Rights, along with senior officials from relevant ministries.

The DPM/FM instructed all stakeholders to finalize preparations for the upcoming EU GSP+ Monitoring Mission to Pakistan. He emphasized that GSP+ remains a win-win framework for both Pakistan and the EU, and reiterated that strengthening Pakistan’s trade and economic diplomacy is a key priority of the country’s foreign policy.
