2022 Michigan Charter Teacher of the Year - Online Public Charter School Educator - School Choice Advocate - Wife of a 5th generation cattle & crop farmer
It was our pleasure to host Congressman @JohnJamesMI for a visit to see what true virtual learning looks like in Mi! We are proud of the work we do at @miprepschool & are always excited to welcome visitors in to see for themselves the unique opportunities our school has to offer.
Today, kids across Michigan are back in class, building the foundation of their futures.
When parents have a choice, kids have a chance to succeed. I saw it firsthand at Michigan International Prep School — proof that when parents, not bureaucrats, are in charge, kids win.
As Governor, I’ll expand school choice, empower parents, prioritize safety, and restore academic excellence across Michigan.
I’m thrilled to introduce the first cohort of @FiftyCAN FIRE Fellows! From Hawaii to Delaware, these incredible leaders are driving local change in education. Congratulations to each of them—we’re excited to welcome the next class.
Applications for Cohort 2 are now open! Apply today: https://t.co/tzInwrU5OA

The weather threw us a bit of a curveball, but it wasn't enough to stop a great event! So great to see and meet so many families and school choice supporters at today's #NationalSchoolChoiceWeek celebration at the State Capitol!
Wednesday Wisdom! 🦉
Whatever your dream is (a career, a skill, admission into a particular college, etc.), the quickest way to get there it is to buckle down and put one foot in front of the other. 🥾🥾 Concentrate on making *today* the best you possibly can.

TBT to when we visited Spicer Orchard Cider Mill in the Fall of 2019. As the weather is cooling down and we are watching the colors change, what is one favorite fall activity that your family likes to partake in?

Self-discipline starts with practicing small, seemingly insignificant habits. Over time, those small successes begin to snowball, building momentum and confidence. Start today by choosing one small, daily decision where you can practice making a disciplined choice.

Wednesday Wisdom! 🦉
Checking off some easy boxes at the beginning of the week can help to build a bit of momentum, while also clearing away some of the noise so you can concentrate on more significant tasks. ✅

Michigan International Prep School will be producing a middle/high school virtual musical for the first time - Super Happy Awesome News! Audition dates and The Musical Premiere date will be announced soon. Get ready for some Super Happy Awesome News!
Michael has been with MIPS since the fall of 2018, and is currently in 7th grade. He’s a kind, enthusiastic student who is very involved in our school community. Michael enjoys art, music, playing baseball, as well as gaming. His favorite school subjects are math and theatre.
For beginning musicians, there are two main practicing pitfalls: (1) practicing at lightning speed, and (2) focusing on the parts of the music that they *already know.*
Music Teacher Megan Poli recommends practicing slowly and loudly to identify (and fix) the trouble spots.

"How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!"
While the imagery is...unappetizing 😬, the lesson is profound: Monumental tasks can only be accomplished by focusing on the very next step.

All MIPS families are invited to join us for our 2nd Hive Hangout of the year, hosted at our Davison Learning Lab this Friday (October 27th) from 1-3pm. We're so excited to welcome Ms. Shelly Echols who runs the non-profit, Art for Kids.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Timothy Nechuta crosses the stage at our 2019 graduation ceremony.
Tim is a virtuosic organist whose grueling practice and performance schedule necessitated an unconventional high school schedule. Tim studied organ at Hope College in Holland, MI, and graduated this spring. 🎓
Staff and students enjoyed a Halloween party in the Rochester Hills lab earlier this week, complete with music, games, and a delicious lunch of sloppy joes! 🎃 🥳
Laura has been at MIPS since the fall of 2018. She's been passionate about art for a long time, and enjoys painting, traditional art, digital art, photography, and even writing, cooking, and card making. Laura’s next major life goal is to pursue art at the college level.
Tuesday's Tip of the Day! 💡
We generally overestimate the risk in trying things, and we underestimate the risk of NOT trying them. Be cautious...but be especially careful of not doing anything new.
