The BC Partition of Property Act can be a powerful tool in a situation like this and a co-owner defendant may be surprised to find that the onus is on them to prove why a sale should not happen. In some commercial relationships we have the parties agree not to use the statute.

Strata bylaws can't authorize an activity that is already prohibited by city bylaw or senior gov't statute (unless those allow the carve out for that)

@VancouverRHN I've only read the article but if he is an owner then there's no reason that he cannot receive the proxies of other owners. I don't do much RESA regulatory work but I suspect it doesn't come into play (because he's an owner).

@DouglasTodd @TerryGlavin @TheEconomist If you are referring to last week's changes to the federal legislation, foreign buyers of homes are very much still prohibited from buying. The changes that were made were a limited attempt to mitigate the damage to housing supply that the legislation inadvertently created.
