@DInclinic I know some early results for positive pressure suits were questionable; recent updates with wrist cuffs seem to show a value. At our institution we use them for TKA and THA and have deep infection rates of 0.2-0.3%. We’ve not done a study though.
This month Springer Nature will publish the first compendium on the Anterior-Based Muscle-Sparing approach for THA edited by Jeff Geller and me. We are so proud and grateful to all of the authors that contributed!
Big thanks to all that have contributed to the first 5 years of @ArthroToday.
Appreciate the recognition of our accomplishments from Dr. Bolognesi and the AAHKS board. Excited for the success of EIC Dr. Greg Golladay and DEIC Dr. Brett Levine as they take the helm of our journal!
December edition of Arthroplasty Today now published, follow @ArthroToday. Check out original adult reconstruction content, case reports, surgical techniques and more at: https://t.co/ESGmBtsErL
@woodsy_simon@mymomthesurgeon @YOTS07658602 Consider case reports in @ArthroToday as one option! Well documented/great imaging/already open access. Good luck on a cool project.
@ExeterHipUnit Arthroplasty Today @ArthroToday is the premier adult reconstruction open-access journal and highlights case reports. If you do not have a research budget, and your manuscript is accepted you can request a waiver for the processing fee.
In this complex series of patients, cementation of a monoblock DM cup into a newly implanted fully porous revision shell reliably provided solid fixation with a low risk of dislocation. (Gabor, Feng, Gupta, Calkins, Della Valle, Vigdorchik, Schwarzkopf)

@MaldonadoMD_@ArthroscopyJ Very helpful! A common type that I encounter is detached ( just like your photo) but not retracted. There is a thin, wide collection of fibers of degenerative tendon attached at the intertrochanteric ridge in continuity with the epimysium of the vastus.
@MaldonadoMD_ An area ripe for investigation! Interesting that DA THA does not allow treatment (I’m told by my partner that performs DA approach), but the outcomes are excellent. Also, on preop exam I can not always say what pain / weakness is IA vs EA.
Authors found that using liposomal bupivacaine for ACB and PAI not only decreased VAS pain scores but also decreased opioid consumption. https://t.co/jJscpEl4HI
How to implant and remove an external fixator arthrodesis antibiotic spacer "as an alternative to the traditional static spacer" for knee stability, bone loss prevention, and soft-tissue care during the spacer phase. #kneearthroplasty

@ArthroToday@ICMPhilly@RothmanOrtho Good insights here! Don’t forget that the original Protocol from @dellavalleortho also used a final skin paint step with betadine before dressing application.
I reserve one bulb syringe of dilute betadine lavage to wash skin and superficial layer after fascia closure.
