One of the most RESPECTABLE professions in the world yet the racist still being racist. Yet some black people will tell you respectability politics will end racism lmaoo
@nate2trey But the thing is most black people do act respectable. Most black people are law abiding citizens. If only 1% of black people committed crimes racist would still be racist that’s the point.
@nakianichele Do you think a majority of black people aren’t civilized ? This is my point racist let preconceived notions sway their opinions of the whole group. No amount of better behavior will change their opinions. I never said don’t act civilized.
Respectability politics is basically it’s ok for racist people to be racist until the media we don’t even control shows them more positive representation of us. More good black people the country then bad. Yet racism is still thriving. It’s not hard to find positive black media
Who said black people shouldn’t act better 😂? Respectability politics is literally looking respectable for white folks lmfaooo. Obviously we should be better. But doing it in hopes your white saviors respect us is dumb
The point yall are missing with respectability politics is it lets racist off the hook ! It’s literally giving them an excuse for their bigotry. Because black people “act a fool on tv” isn’t a justification for racism.
I hate the notion that if black people just acted “civilized” white people wouldn’t be racist. No matter how you act people who are racist will find justifications for their racism.
@Corgis52@VT_Jizzy It’s hard to change anything when you don’t have much power in these institutions. If black peoples genuinely had more power within the music industry I believe you would see more admirable rap artist. And to clarify I have no problem with rappers speaking on their experiences
@Corgis52@VT_Jizzy The thing about hip hop is there are plenty of positive artists that want to push black culture forward. But ultimately as much as we may want them to be in the forefront it’s not up to us. Rap fans are now mostly white kids/young adults. We don’t really pick our rap leaders.
@Corgis52@VT_Jizzy I agree that music may play a part in behaviors but what’s your solution? Just eliminate hip hop as a whole ? One of the ways that generational poverty has been halted for families. Most artist are rapping about what they’ve experienced or seen. Eliminate those experiences first
@necksteppa77@2shaynez_69@MeetiKnuts@Corgis52 How many white Americans put in an effort to consume positive black media ? I’m not blaming anyone tbh just point out the issue is more complex than black people just need to be better. Most black people are good people. Now think why the media mostly platforms only the worst.
@2shaynez_69@MeetiKnuts@necksteppa77@Corgis52 Serious question do you realize a large portion of this is not black peoples fault right ? Who controls the media ? Who controls the news ? Who chooses the majority of black representation white Americans see of black people ?
@upper_pp The white people who defend black people the most are usually liberals. Where do liberals overwhelmingly live ? In cities. In cities guess what you find ? A substantial percentage of the black population. Like you’re just saying dumb shit have a good day man.
@upper_pp Answer the questions dawg. Why are red necks in West Virginia and other states with extremely low black populations racist ? They don’t interact with black people period.
