I'm of two minds on this. Public execution sends a big message, and would probably have some catharsis, but I also think grandiose punishment will only fuel a martyrdom complex. If you're crazy/evil enough to create and spread a bioweapon, you're probably crazy/evil enough to not care about gruesome punishment because "something-something history will remember me." Just take them out back and put a .45 in their head. No spectacle, no defiant last words, etc. Kind of sends the message to any like-mindeds that there will be no infamy, no martyrdom, nothing, and that's all that will become of their memory.

@harada_chicken It's most likely a personally bought metal or plastic waterproof case. In the Vietnam war moisture was one of the biggest problems for the troops. Rucking through water tended to soak anything in your pockets, and nobody wants soggy cigarettes.

There has been much discourse on "Ceremonial Knife vs. Ceremonial Gun" well, fun fact, Texas has both! Our ceremonial knife is the Bowie Knife which was named after the famous Alamo Defender, Jim Bowie, and our ceremonial gun is the Colt Walker which was commissioned from Colt by Texas Ranger Captain Samuel Walker to have a more powerful and reliable sidearm for the Texas Rangers. The Colt Walker was named the official handgun of Texas in 2021!

It's one thing to lie about someone, which is embarrassing behavior on Its face, It's an entirely different more deeply embarrassing type of behavior to lie about someone, and then try to justify those lies with incorrect information.
