Update from the trenches on Monday morning.
After a lot of thought this weekend, we’ve decided to move Arnie McNair to a different model.
Beginning with our July release, we will no longer offer pre-orders on apparel. The only exception will be Eisenhower belts and wallets.
Moving forward, we’ll make inventory before opening orders and then ship directly to customers. This means less inventory and harder to get. OG buyers will continue to have a short window ahead of time. But our goal is simple: get your order to you within 1-2 weeks.
Made-to-order was essential in getting this business off the ground. It allowed us to build something special without taking unnecessary risks. But as we’ve grown, we’ve learned that too many variables in the process are outside our control. Delays are frustrating for customers and frustrating for us. We believe it’s time to evolve.
As for the spring release, we are continuing to ship cashmere sweaters and the remaining belt orders. The rest of the spring inventory is scheduled to arrive over the next 1-2 weeks. Arnie polos and McNair polos are arriving this week, with shorts following shortly after. As inventory lands, we’ll begin shipping immediately and work as quickly as humanly possible to get everything into your hands.
Due to an abundance of inquiries, we made the decision to split ship visors and towels and absorb the additional cost ourselves in order to get those items to customers as quickly as possible. Hopefully many of you received those over the last week.
If you received a visor or towel but are still waiting on shorts, polos, sweaters, or other items from your order, that does not mean we missed anything. Those items are still coming and will ship as inventory arrives.
We’ll also be opening a short fall belt order window over the next 1-2 weeks. That window will remain open for approximately one week and will include our legacy belt colors, along with a new tan ostrich option and a black alligator belt. As always, belts and wallets will continue to operate under the made-to-order model.
The July release will include three striped polos, our new George pique polo in three colors, and a limited run of Supima cotton McNair pocket tees.
Thank you for your continued support of Arnie McNair. We are incredibly grateful for every customer who has trusted us along the way. We can’t wait to hear your reviews and continue building this thing together.
Onward.

Mark Manson on how to win at life:
1. Commit to doing a hard thing.
2. Do the hard thing.
3. Feel good about doing the hard thing.
4. Become someone who enjoys doing hard things.
Major cheat code for life: Master the art of the fresh start. From a bad morning. From a bad interaction. From a missed workout. From a poor decision. The goal isn't to avoid the fall. It's to shorten the time between the fall and the reset. Fast recovery compounds.
My honest advice to someone who wants to make a lot of money.
3 things nobody told you:
1. The only way to make a lot of money is to create a lot of value.
No one hands out money. No one is going to pay you just because they like you or think you're cool. That's not the way the world works.
Money earned is a direct byproduct of value created. Create value, receive value. If money is the goal, value has to be the focus.
This isn't just some vague idea: The only way to get rich is to create an enormous amount of value for others, and capture a small portion of that along the way.
It's not talking about the thing, it's not brainstorming about the thing, it's not asking about the thing, it's not thinking about the thing. The only way to create value is by doing the thing.
And if you don't know where to start, look around you. Customers, colleagues, bosses, shareholders, employees. Every single one of them has a problem. What problems can you solve for the people around you? Figure them out, solve them, scale that solution.
That's how you make money.
2. You have to demonstrate excellence in everything you do.
Your income scales proportional to the amount of excellence that you're able to demonstrate.
Strategic incompetence is a lie. You don't get to pick and choose when to show up, because the world will ignore your best and judge you for your worst. Everything matters. Every single thing.
Top performers show up with energy and enthusiasm for the little things just as much as they do for the big things.
If you're in the top-10% of performers, there's no ceiling for what you can do. But the self-awareness to identify where you currently stack up, and adapt to the honest feedback on it, is very rare.
If you're in the top-10%, you know it. If you're not, figure out why and fix it.
3. You don't need passion, you need energy.
I still have no idea what it means to follow your passion.
You don't have to be passionate about your professional pursuits, you just need to find energy in them. You just need to feel a pull towards them. You just need to feel that spark of curiosity in them.
Passion is usually a byproduct of energy.
When you have energy for something, you'll give it your deep attention to learn more. You’ll ask the right questions. You’ll figure it out. You’ll win.

And remember: Nobody is coming to save you. It’s just you. There’s a power in that.
Go do the thing.
@ThinkAppraiser@TheFlowHorse Based on the color of the sand, the hue of the water, and the geo-positioning of the Sun, this is likely Naperville, Illinois
Life advice nobody told you: Violent consistency is the only path to achieve what you want.
It's not going to be pretty. It's not going to draw oohs and aahs from the crowd. Because it looks messy in the days. It's getting out of bed when you don't want to. It's sitting down at your desk when you're tired. It's pounding your head into a wall one more time. It's ugly. It's unimpressive. But it works.
Quantity is a necessary precursor to quality. You cannot create once and hope for it to be perfect. You have to create a lot. Every single day.
I recently came across a story in Art & Fear that I love:
A ceramics teacher split a class into two groups. One would be graded on the quantity of their output, the other would be graded on the quality of their output. On the final day, the first group would have their total output of pots weighed, while the second group would have one pot judged.
When grading day arrived, something fascinating happened:
"The works of highest quality were all produced by the group being graded for quantity. It seems that while the 'quantity' group was busily churning out piles of work—and learning from their mistakes—the 'quality' group had sat theorizing about perfection, and in the end had little more to show for their efforts than grandiose theories and a pile of dead clay."
Quality is a byproduct of quantity. Violent consistency. That's the real recipe.
I wholesale houses and land. I also wholesale/flip mobile homes. Hella of people ask me for info on this niche.
So here’s a thread on how you can make an extra $5,000…10…15…20, $30,000 per month.
A friend of mine used to say: “Show up on time, with a good attitude, and do what you said you’d do. That’s it. That’s 90% of winning in life." The older I get, the more I realize just how right he was.
