On this day in 1925, Congo’s🇨🇩 independence leader and pan-African hero Patrice Lumumba was born. He gained prominence as a charismatic and vocal advocate for independence from Belgian colonial rule, which led to his involvement in the Congolese National Movement (MNC).
Upon Congo's independence in June 1960, Lumumba was appointed as the country’s first Prime Minister. He faced immediate crises, thanks to neocolonial meddling in the country, including a mutiny within the army and the secession of the mineral-rich province of Katanga, orchestrated and backed by Belgium, the country which tortured Congo under colonialism for many years.
His appeal for Soviet aid to quash the Belgium-backed secessionist movement led to Western leaders immediately beginning to plot against Lumumba.
His rule would end in tragedy, when he was captured in Lodi by the troops of coup leader Joseph-Désiré Mobutu. The coup was backed by the US and Belgium, with US President Eisenhower ordering the CIA to ‘eliminate’ Patrice Lumumba.
For daring to oppose Belgian colonialism and US domination of Congo’s natural resources, Lumumba was executed by firing squad on the 17th of January 1961 after being tortured. Before being killed, the colonial conspirators tried to force Lumumba to eat the paper on which his Independence Day speech was written on. After being executed, his body was dissolved in acid.
Lumumba still remains an icon of pan-Africanism to this day, with his image and memory being a rallying point for Africans across the continent against neocolonialism.

Q: What do they know that we don’t?
Wanna see the IHRA at work?
The UK codified the IHRA definition of antisemitism into law, making criticism of Israel antisemitic
Hollywood actors are boycotting the Israeli film industry because of Israel’s apartheid & genocide. UK lawyers for Israel sent letters to Netflix, BBC etc stating that if they feature work by these actors, they are also liable for discrimination & violation of the UK Equality Act. In other words, Israel is forcing the networks to punish actors for boycotting or get sued, lose their insurance coverage and funding
Short of the UK recognizing Israel has committed genocide (a fact confirmed by every major human rights group), Israel will play these games to sue anyone attempting to boycott the genocidal entity
Trump adopted the IHRA through executive orders 13899 & 14188 because it failed to pass in Congress 11 times
Van, sorry, but this doesn't cut it.
You apologize for the most morally repulsive part of your comment (laughing about dead Gaza babies), yet double down on the politically most consequential part - the foreign influence allegation.
First of all, you are claiming that had it not been for foreign gov manipulation, Americans wouldn't see so many dead Gaza babies on their TikTok feeds.
No, had it not been for Israel committing a genocide, there wouldn't have been so many dead innocent children on our feeds. You are once again excusing Israel's genocide by claiming that the circulation of these images is all because of social media manipulation and not because most Americans are very decent human beings who have a natural distaste for the mass killings of children and want to do something to stop it, even if only by sharing videos to raise awareness.
Second, what is your evidence that this unproven manipulation is being committed by Qatar and Iran? You have presented none so far. In fact, no one has managed to produce any public evidence for this claim.
I hope you present some credible proof, because given the evidence that Israel is paying influencers to repeat unproven talking points, there will naturally be some curiosity as to whether you made this statement based on evidence and a genuine belief (however misguided) or based on some sort of arrangement with the Israeli government.
Either way, you should back up your claim with evidence or apologize to the American public for spreading unproven allegations.
