.@TA_FootballShow on Nick Caley’s offense:
“So much of the burden was on CJ Stroud. Obviously they were not a team that could run the ball very much so they were always in 2nd & 9 & 3rd & 7. They also did not do anything as far as screens go. 2.5% of CJ Stroud’s passing yards were screens.” - Derrik Klassen
“Dead last in the NFL in their % of their passes behind the LOS and they didn’t throw the ball downfield that much. Like 18.7% of their total attempts were 15 or more air yards, which was 23rd or 24th in the league. If you’re not throwing the ball behind the LOS, & you’re not really pushing the ball downfield, everything that you’re doing is operating in a 0-15 yard box. Go watch that play where Craig Woodson comes downhill on the 1st drive vs the Patriots. He doesn’t give a s*** what’s gunna go on behind him.” -@robertmays
Jake Andrews on Wyatt Teller on Texans All Access to @jharrisfootball & @TexansVoice :
“I love Wyatt. He’s awesome. I’ve gravitated towards Wyatt a lot this offseason. Really fun gun to be around. Loves football. Loves being out with the boys. He’s a dudes dude. I love that guy.”
.@minakimes on @ESPNNFL on the Texans & CJ Stroud:
“I think Houston can do a better job of supporting him this season if they can run the football better. CJ Stroud’s superpower as a QB is throwing in-breakers. Digs, crossers, slants. Last year he was 1st league wide in success rate on in-breakers, tied for 1st with Jared Goff on EPA/play. Some of that has to do with Nico Collins on the receiving end— that’s also his superpower, catching those types of passes. It’s a phenomenal skillset & one that the Texans haven’t been able to lean into, get the most out of because of the lack of an efficient, explosive running game. If they’re able to draw linebackers up there’d be voids over the middle of the field, draw safeties up, they’d face single high coverage. The Texans run game needs to be better to get the most out of CJ Stroud.”
OC Nick Caley admits to having some struggles as a playcaller early & adjusting to the offense more towards the personnel the team after the early struggles:
“He admits that perhaps he was a little too ambitious coming in as a first-time play-caller, realizing the personnel on the roster didn't fit what he was initially trying to do. He said early in the season they had become too pass-heavy and needed to adjust.”
Great piece from Jon as always!
Henry To’oTo’o on his goals:
“My main goal is the Super Bowl. First & foremost is bring home a Super Bowl for the city of Houston. My main, main goal is bringing the city of Houston a Super Bowl.”
We are in Texas. Just filled up for $3.59. In L.A. on Monday it was $8.59.
Californians: It's not the Iran war. It's not "Trump." It's Democrat policies that have given us the highest gas prices in America.
You can have $3.00 gas but you have to VOTE for it in November.
Texans IOL Jake Andrews tells @TexansVoice & @jharrisfootball on Texans All Access that they have more than 2x the amount of stuff installed offensively compared to last offseason at this time.
He credits CJ Stroud & Davis Mills improvements in year 2 of the scheme.
.@TheoAshNFL puts Derek Stingley Jr. #2 on his top 5 CBs list heading into 2026 only behind Broncos Patrick Surtain.
Stingley has finished with a passer rating under 60 & coverage EPA lower than -12 in each of the last 3 seasons.

Every 20+ air yard target for Jaylin Noel last year:
Jayden Higgins said that Noel got faster this offseason & could potentially add even more explosiveness in year 2 for Houston.
Yall told me he wouldn't catch ints in the league cause he didnt in college..
Yall also told me his 40 speed would impact his game in the league..
Kamari Lassiter is just a dawg, some things u cant teach
Henry To'oTo'o on the Texans Tight End Room:
“Some dogs man. Brevin he’s all swole, looking good. Foster such a great vocal leader. Marlin, hes came in & made a huge jump from the start he got here. That whole entire room, obviously Dalton leading that room, they have a really good guy to look up to. Can’t forget Cade either. That whole entire room, it’s a great room.”

I’m optimistic about improvements to the Texans offense, particularly the pass protection and, ultimately, the passing game.
Last season felt like it was largely about getting the ball out quickly and limiting the hits CJ Stroud took until the offensive line could be improved. With what should be a better OL this year, I think they can rely a little less on the quick game and put more emphasis on a traditional dropback passing attack, opening up more of the offense.
I also believe the entire pre-snap process should improve, from getting in and out of the huddle, to alignments, motions, and defensive identification. Those improvements may not be as noticeable as personnel upgrades, but they can have a significant impact on the offense’s overall efficiency and execution.
