A party tent rental fleet spends the winter folded in a barn. Ten 20x40 tents and a trailer run $49K to $69K. Each tent has to book 12 of the 20 rentable weekends to clear $5,400 to $8,400. Works if you're the setup crew β pay market wage for it and the season disappears.
Mobile document shredding sells destruction, not recycling. A used truck runs $68K, a new one $170K to $195K, and the driver $48,770. Office paper fetches $132 a ton intact. Shredding costs the load $67 a ton of that β then you bill the customer for the privilege.
At a cost of $1 trillion a year for taxpayer fraud alone, training your employees on good fraud protection practices is getting more and more important.
Taxpayer fraud could top $1 trillion a year. Consumer fraud losses may be 20 times higher than reported.

A repo operator is paid per car recovered, not per hour spent looking. The truck and camera rig run $83,000, and insurance alone is $22,000 a year. At $375 a recovery, 26 a month covers the costs. This works for someone who can knock on a door at 5am and stay calm.
A pet crematory spends more on the oven than on the building. The unit and its venting run $78,000 on their own. Opening lands near $155,000, and fixed costs about $70,000 a year. At $250 a cremation you need 6 a week. Demand is steady; the equipment is the whole bet.
Firewood has no barrier to entry, which is why the machine matters. A used processor and a truck run $70K to $100K. That buys you 1.6 cords a day and about $146 a cord before you pay yourself. Under 200 cords a year you're priced by hobbyists. Above 400 they can't follow.
An alpaca costs more to insure than its fleece is worth. Each head grows $10 to $100 of wool a year against a $150 to $500 policy. Twelve animals with shelter and fencing run $45K to $150K. Sell one breeding female at $2K to $20K and the year clears; sell none and you own pets.
Axe throwing is a bar that rents lanes. Eight lanes and a reserve liquor licence in Green Bay cost $91K to $172K to open. Rent, insurance and three staff run $25K to $27K a year per lane β 22 to 24 throwers a day. With drinks it pencils. Dry, it's a low-margin party venue.
That is about $580 a day leaving through portion creep and a schedule nobody trimmed. The consultant costs 19 days of it. If you already know your prime cost to the point, the software is enough. If you don't, you were never buying analysis.
A restaurant consultant charges about $11,000 to pull prime cost down, and the argument now is whether AI has made that fee pointless. The fee is the least interesting number in the story.
A vape shop is $25K of stock that can stop being sellable while it sits there. Opening runs about $95,500, overhead $5,570 a month, one clerk $37,310. At a 50% margin that needs $208K of sales a year to cover the room and the wage. The inventory is the risk, not the lease.
A self-serve car wash sells time by the minute. The water reclaim skid alone costs as much as a whole bay. Four bays run $320K to $510K. At 40 cents a minute a six-minute wash is $2.40, so you need 44 to 63 cars a day to cover costs. Clear 63 and it works; under 44 it's a hobby.
An ice vending machine pays rent all night and sells nothing after dark. Standing one up costs $9K to $59K. Rent, power and service time put breakeven near 10 to 15 bags a day. Below 26 bags a day, take the cut-of-sales lease. Works if July carries the winter.
Portable toilet rental lives or dies on the route map. One driver on weekly service covers about 24 stops a day, and his wage alone is $9.57 of that stop. A 150-unit fleet and a truck cost $167K to $555K to open. Works if your stops cluster; spread thin, the driver eats it.
