In this new work we study the role of bromine in phase transformations. FABr volatilizes at lower Ts than FAI, leading to vacancies that lead to different phase transformation pathways.

Strong hydrogen bonding, through phosphonic acids/functional groups, promote formation of cubic FAPI during evaporation. Molecule migration during growth is key. FAPI more stable in humid air.
