In Kakuma, school cooks are testing a new steam cooking technology that is transforming how meals are prepared.

Already introduced in three schools serving approximately 15,000 learners daily, the technology;

✅ Improves cooking efficiency
✅ Reduce water consumption
✅ Lowers firewood use
✅ Creates better working conditions for cooks

Supported by @WFP, the @novonordiskfond and Government of Kenya, the initiative is strengthening sustainable school feeding systems for thousands of learners daily.

Rice is a staple food enjoyed by many, and for thousands of refugees in Kenya, it’s been part of their monthly food basket. 🍚

With the generous support from the 🇰🇷 Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs @mafrakorea, WFP has been providing rice to refugee families, helping diversify diets and support food security.

Together, we are helping ensure access to nutritious foods. 🌾

In Garissa, support from Zoetis Foundation is helping farmers unlock the potential of year-round agriculture.

A solar-powered irrigation system installed at Nadhir farm enables farmers to draw water from the River Tana 💧supporting food production, strengthening livelihoods, and building resilience to climate-related shocks.

When drought wiped out Abdulatif’s livestock, WFP’s cash assistance helped him prioritise what mattered most.

After losing much of her livestock during drought, WFP 's cash assistance helped her family repay debts from a local food kiosk, purchase essential items and cover school fees.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting the Korean Ambassador to Kenya and the Director of #MAFRA in Kakuma, where they witnessed first-hand the distribution of Korean rice🍚 to refugees.

This year, the Republic of Korea🇰🇷 has generously donated nearly 24,000 MT of rice to WFP Kenya - a lifeline that is helping many vulnerable families put food on the table.
