Very interesting to read @NEPAD_Mayaki : "It is becoming increasingly clear now that we are transitioning to a “post-ODA” world....]So what does a win-win outcome look like for Africa and the rest of the world? For starters, it should focus on empowering smallholder farmers who..
In any era of #change, it is easy for international collaboration to simply recede. But instead, we must reimagine how the relationship between #Africa and the world is structured, based upon the principles of mutual #selfinterest and #agency.

Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Chad saw the largest increases in tax revenues as a share of GDP in Africa in 2023 (4.9 p.p., 4.5 p.p. and 3.4 p.p., respectively), driven by higher corporate income tax revenues from the oil sector.

After years in the making, I am happy to share a new guide for gravity estimations. Our recommendations are motivated by trade, but most of them apply broadly, e.g., to migration, FDI, etc. Mario, @SergeShikher, and I hope this is useful. Gravity rules 💪

The human brain has a preference for simple shapes.
We're hardwired to remember:
• Straight lines over curves
• Circles over complex polygons
• Basic patterns over intricate designs
75% of consumer perceptions are influenced by simple shapes and colors.

Proud to visit the Kanté Lab at UC Berkeley, led by Malian physicist Boubacar Kanté. He invented the BerkSEL laser, solving a six-decade wave physics challenge. His topological lasers were recognized as one of the top 10 breakthroughs by Physics World in 2017. #ABoraMaliLa 🇲🇱🇲🇱

🌍 Catch Up on the High-Level Panel on accelerating preparation and financing of transboundary water projects!
If you missed the insightful discussions, the High-Level Panel, co-convened by AUDA-NEPAD, @GWPnews, and the @WorldBankAfrica, delved into strategies for accelerating the preparation and financing of transboundary water projects in Africa.
The panel highlighted the urgent need to overcome the challenges of funding, capacity gaps, and institutional weaknesses that hinder the preparation of water projects across borders. Discussions focused on resource mobilisation, stakeholder collaboration, and financing models that could drive impactful change. The session showcased best practices and case studies from successful projects, including the Angololo Multipurpose Water Resources Development Project, 1 of 15 water projects in PIDA PAP 2.
This project, currently at the Project Structuring Stage, illustrates significant progress in transboundary water management, with Kenya and Uganda working together to address water security challenges in the region. The project is advancing through its technical, financial, and legal frameworks, setting the stage for large-scale investment and long-term sustainability.
