Great energy in the room as we open @WFP's Executive Board.
30 years, 36 Member States, one focus: ending hunger for the people we serve. As we adapt to growing needs, we meet to align on transparency, efficient support to frontline teams, reform & partnership. Big week ahead.
We are deeply honored to welcome His Holiness Pope Leo XIV to WFP Headquarters in Rome.
His message speaks to the heart of WFP’s mission and acts as a powerful reminder of why the fight against hunger matters. 💙
Today, I had the honour of addressing Member States, since taking up my role as UNOV DG/@UNODC ED, two days ago.
I look forward to building strong partnerships that support efforts to tackle the world drug problem, organized crime, corruption, terrorism and that strengthen criminal justice systems, through collective responsibility, commitment to renewed multilateralism, and constructive engagement with Member States.
A warm welcome to Monica Juma from #Kenya, the new Director-General of #UNVienna and Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime @UNODC, on her first day in the office today.

HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE 🫨
Sabastian Sawe becomes the first person ever to break the 2-hour barrier in official race conditions, storming to a historic 1:59:30‼️
@KejelchaYomif, on his marathon debut, also breaks 2 hours with a stunning 1:59:41 and @jacobkiplimo2 clocks 2:00:28, also faster than the previous world record 😤
Productive meeting with President @WilliamsRuto on scaling practical solutions to strengthen food security and resilience.
We aligned on next steps to expand impact—leveraging Kenya’s leadership, both domestically and globally, to accelerate progress in the fight against hunger.
Congratulations to @AmbMonicaJuma on your appointment as Executive Director of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna.
A well-deserved recognition of your exceptional leadership and service.
I recently met with the World Food Programme Country Director Ms Barbara Clemens and executives from Food for Africa, who expressed interest in partnering with the @angelofhope_zim Foundation to fight child malnutrition and stunting.
I expressed keen interest also being proud to champion school feeding programmes and promote our local nutritious foods.
The WFP has also expressed keen interest in having me take a leading role in combating stunting and malnutrition across the SADC region and the African continent.

We mourn with mothers whose wombs are twisting in unspeakable pain - their offsprings cut down with bullets meant to silence hope. Deaths that needed not to have occurred 💔🖤
The @WFP has raised the alarm over escalating hunger across West and Central Africa, as ongoing conflict, displacement, economic decline, and repeated extreme weather events push millions closer to the brink of severe food insecurity.
