Brahmins from the North are perhaps the last people who should be lecturing others on this subject.

When the Marathas, including Maharashtrian Brahmins, were fighting the Mughals, you chose to watch from the sidelines. And today, you suddenly invoke Maharashtrian Brahmins who played significant roles in the First War of Independence in 1857, as though their legacy somehow belongs to you.

Every Brahmin mentioned in your post is a Maharashtrian. They belonged to the intellectual and political tradition of Maharashtra shaped by Chhatrapati Shivaji, the great!

So, perhaps a little introspection and some honesty about history would be appropriate.

Since you mentioned the Holkars, let us also remember Yashwantrao Holkar, who remained one of the strongest Indian opponents of British expansion in the early 19th century. Had that fool Bajirao II supported Yashwantrao instead of pursuing his own course, the subsequent history of the Marathas and the Indian subcontinent in whole, might well have been different.

And let us not forget the Bhosales. Pratapsinh Maharaj, the last Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire, also resisted British interference and paid a heavy price for it. Unfortunately, he did not always receive the support he needed from his own people, whether Brahmins or Marathas.

Personally, I have very little interest in caste-kanging. I sincerely hope that everyone indulging in it, including you, finds something more constructive to do that benefits society as a whole.

Grow up! History is not a trophy to be claimed merely to make another community feel small.
