New publication from our long line of reservoir studies in the SE USA @Waters_Paleolim@BenCWebster
Reservoir Surface Sediments Show Spatial Heterogeneity between Aquatic Contaminants, Heavy Metals, and Cyanotoxins | ACS ES&T Water https://t.co/TaMzkmeNAX
I haven't been on this app much since it was purchased as a vanity project by a billionaire whacko. But, I found a Hamiota subangulata trying to entice a fish with its superconglutinate. This listed species is determined to make a comeback and that's smile worthy. #musselhugger
In SW GA, gar hang out in dark, murky places under small concrete bridges. @SolomonRDavid I enjoy taking a break from #musselhugging to visit the gar. Is this to avoid light and heat? I always mention that I know you. It makes them happy #happygar
Excited to announce of my dissertation chapters is published in Water Reaserch! Feel free to read about how Average Annual Residence Time impacts Nitrogen Deposition in Reservoirs https://t.co/bDFO0Gsgi3 . Thanks again coauthors @Waters_Paleolim and @Bankclimber
Mussel Monday lasts all week @thejonesctr . The ACF Mussel Workshop convened today for a few days of classroom, lab, and field activities. We'll be studying the mussels of the lower Flint River Basin in GA. #musselhugger#riverlove
@DrArialShogren I love PVC. It's like l3ggos for aquatics researchers. Another tip: 1.75 " compression fittings are perfect containers for temp loggers. We use chikkin wire mesh to keep mudbugs out.
In mud lies knowledge! Congrats to @BenCWebster for successfully defending his dissertation @AuburnWater on the paleolimnology of reservoir sediments. The first of hopefully many from the @Waters_Paleolim lab. I have learned so much from this collaboration. #mud#curiosity#fun
@notamishnow Living things, including mussels, can be quite determined to make things work. We just need to give them a chance. I'm happy that you had the experience of discovery!
Another mussel display for your viewing pleasure. This from a tributary of a tributary of the lower Flint River in GA, US. On this day, all the females were 'a luring'. They were hoping to catch a ride for their larvae on an accommodating fish. #musselhugger#riverlove
Happy to announce that one of my Master’s thesis chapters has been published! Thank you @UGAWarnell and @thejonesctr for the support and resources that helped my coauthors and I accomplish this. https://t.co/QXrCjfVw6B
Does anyone need to see the display of Villosa vibex? It seems like a perfect thing to watch. It is SFW so let your employer pay for the view #musselhugger#freshwatermussel#riverlove
It's Mussel Monday! Elliptio crassidens, aka elephant ear,🐘👂️ is a common river mussel species in the lower Flint River basin. Sometimes found in large clusters, they often have a highly eroded outer shell since they're often in rocky substrate with faster moving water.
