@cwjones89 No, Spain doesn't get military aid and NATO is a defensive alliance. The Israel US relationship is far deeper and Israel can only follow its current policies with US support or at least acquiescence. So Israeli policy is a legit topic for Americans to discuss as they enable it.
@renewablesmiffy@FraserNelson Interconnectors for sure but they can never be more than part of the solution. . Hydro and tidal are irrelevant for the foreseeable. Nuclear at scale is at least 1 - 2 decades away. So add non CCS gas as an interim. Ie cost over short term carbon savings.
@renewablesmiffy@FraserNelson That doesn't answer the illogicality of banning North Sea exploration when we could partially replace LPG imports, which have a worse carbon footprint. And what is your proposed backup for renewables intermittency?
@renewablesmiffy@FraserNelson The point is decarbonisation will come from more use of electricity and the transition will be quicker if electricity is cheaper. So focus on cost, not banning fossil fuel extraction when that just means importing them instead.
