In his 2003 edition Prolegomena to Theology p.32 - Reformed Scholar and author Dr. Richard A.Muller correctly identities Particular Baptist theologian and pastor Dr. John Gill as one among few who during the late orthodox period of Protestantism continued to produce and defend “traditional Reformed theology”. PBHB is committed to preserving the literary heritage of this eminent father of the faith. We are on track to having his complete works consisting of 9 vols Finished by the end of 2026!
The 1689 Second London Confession of Faith ~
While it doesn’t use the word “inerrancy,” it teaches the same concept:
"The Holy Scripture is the only sufficient, certain and infallible rule of all saving knowledge, faith and obedience" 1.1
Confessionally, the early English Particular Baptists historically affirmed inerrancy as a necessary implication of inspiration.
PBHB’s published scripture index at the back of the Second London Confession makes it a valuable resource when preparing a sermon. Each week I consult it during my Lord’s Day preparations.
Dear PBHB friends, we are pleased to promote the latest publication from our colleagues over at Particularly Baptist Press. The introduction entitled “A Transatlantic Theologian: A Brief Overview of the Published Works of John Gill in America” authored by the late Terry Wolever is well worth the purchase.
Bro. Wolever was a top notch scholar/and we miss him dearly.
A couple years before Terry went home to be with Lord he allowed me to record him presenting a 3 part seminary level lecture entitled “How to Research Baptist History Utilizing Genealogical Records”. You find those recordings here: https://t.co/OzktDJEms9
Admittedly the audio quality is not the best, but the knowledge Terry shares in these recordings is invaluable!
Terry’s humble commitment to the Particular Baptist tradition and his irenic writing style is one we all should strive to emulate.

Benjamin Keach on the circumstantial differences between John's and Christ's baptism(s):
1⃣The Baptism in Water which was Christ’s, and of which John [the Baptist] was but a Minister, together with Christ’s other Disciples before Christ’s Death, etc., was then the Baptism of Repentance for the Remission of Sins by Christ, who was to come, that is, before long, to suffer Death, be buried, and rise again.
2⃣But after Christ had suffered, it is the Baptism of Repentance, and Faith, for the Remission of Sins by Christ that is already come, hath died, was buried, and is risen again for our Justification; they baptized into Christ to suffer; now we are baptized into Christ who hath suffered.
3⃣Neither can this seem strange to any Man, since the Doctrine which John [the Baptist], Christ himself, and his Disciples, preached before our Savior suffered, differed in the same respect also, for they all then preached Repentance, Faith and Salvation by Christ, to suffer.
But had John lived till Christ had suffered, he would have preached Repentance, and Faith, and administered Baptism as we now do, namely, in and by Christ, who hath suffered; and this is all the difference, I say, that I know of, (which is only circumstantial) between the preaching the Gospel, and baptizing, before the Death of Christ, and that after his Death; wherefore the word of the Gospel under John, and after Christ’s Death and Resurrection, is called the very same Word; and the Word that Peter preached to Cornelius and his House, is said to begin from John’s Baptism, as the same Word which John came preaching; so that the Baptism with which John came baptizing, continues still, and was preached and practiced by Command from Christ, by the Mouth of Peter, on Disciples believing, in that very place Acts 10 (Acts 10:36-41). And this not in honor of John, as some frivolously affirm, but as a thing which ought to be done, as in force anew from the Lord Jesus, in whose Name Peter administered it, and not without Warrant from Christ so to do; 'He commanded them to be baptized in the Name of the Lord' (Acts 10:38)."

Dear Friends in Christ, Pastors Sukumar (Central Baptist Church) and D.W. Barger (Christ Reformed Baptist Church) recently convened for their annual business meeting to discuss the upcoming PBHB translation projects for 2026.
This annual meeting serves as a meaningful time of prayer and mutual pastoral encouragement, as they both strive to faithfully serve Christ in their local churches.
Last year, PBHB was honored with the help of Pas. Sukumar to publish the first-ever (brief) commentary on the Second London Confession of Faith in Telugu.
This resource has already been distributed to more than 700 pastors across Southeast India!
Looking ahead, here is a list of future books they plan to jointly publish in Telugu, aimed at equipping native Indian pastors with robust theological materials:
- The Five Solas
- The Doctrines of Grace
- Biblical Contrast Between Dispensationalism and Covenant Theology
- Preparation and Delivery of Sermons
- A Brief History of William Carey and the Particular Baptist Missionary Society
Once you have faithfully supported your own local church, we kindly ask you to pray about and consider contributing financially to this essential translation ministry. Your support would be deeply appreciated.

Pas. Doug (PBHB), Pas. Santosh, Pas. Sukumar, Pas. Chris and Pas. Brian enjoyed mutual encouragement and fellowship at the recent 2026 CovCon hosted by @CBTSeminary
This annual event has become a wonderful opportunity for reformed Baptists in the MidWest area to network and encourage one another in the work of the ministry.
A core principle of PBHB is providing modern Baptists with printed access to Puritan forefathers who articulated a Covenant Theology that defined the nature of Christ’s true church as consisting of only those who possess saving faith and that conversion being experientially expressed in Christian baptism.
One such early example is Philip Carey (fl.1685-c.1710). This beautifully bound edition offers the reader an insightful introduction surveying Carey’s irenic interaction with fellow friend and Puritan John Flavel. Order a copy today :
