@uploaded73@5054magazine The Omega 3.2v6 was a beast in the early 00s. The Calibra 4x4 turbo was even better. WFF happened to Vauxhall (and Peugeot). Used to make such fun cars.
Central Bruges 32c - The huge benefit urban planting gives in terms of shade / sun protection. None of this 'we better plant small to avoid problems'! Planes, gingko and catalpa perfectly integrated into the built landscape.
@jharphamtrees@kilmaha@cat_frampton Perhaps 'creating a problem so they can solve it' is unfair but I've certainly seen close to it. The pursuit purely of numbers to meet environmental targets to meet political objective is a common theme.
@jharphamtrees@kilmaha@cat_frampton Sorry late the chat as Im away for half term. I find all the data to be inaccurate. For most urban projects everybody talks about canopy cover but the quoted figures are never accurate enough to be used.
@Kristinartz Private pension should be available from 50. State pension needs to be pushed back to a later age if it is going to exist. It is design for a small % of people to live a 3-5 years after 65/67. It cannot cope with lots of people living 20 years in retirement.
@LondonMoneyFS What's the answer? Hard to know, but as country slashing economic growth is going to be tough route and will see successive governments fail.
@LondonMoneyFS I think most people will cope but the extra few hundred per month in repayments will not be spent elsewhere in economy. Not just luxuries but day to day spend which will hit local shops, restaurants, pubs, services industry etc.
@kilmaha It's definitely coming. There will be some 'unexpected' event like a global drought and countries will hold onto their own food and we'll be up a creek. I'm not against solar farms, I'm not against sensible development but all secondary to food secuirty.
The ongoing 'fuel crisis' highlights in my mind how reliant we are as a country on imports. What happens when fuel becomes food? We seem to consistently lose productive farmland without any progress on ensuring we can 100% self feed in the UK. It feels like a time bomb.
@kilmaha Yes, sadly I would have guessed that. I see these obvious shortages as the biggest threat to our national security. I do not know all the facts but certainly in general life it seems we are doing nothing to mitigate. Why isn't food and energy security our top priorities.
@jharphamtrees@kilmaha The only support we get as a business is employment allowance which helps reduce the NI bill. It's not really a benefit though as they impose that cost on us in the first place so really they are just discounting their 'bill'.
@kilmaha 100%. Why take on the personal risk and stress when there is little reward compared to just getting a job. So little incentive to open or run a small busienss these days.
@DarrenFare30158@Morgan_C_Ross US made some huge sacrifices during WW2 but Im pretty sure the 1940 population of 135 million didn't die 3 times each in the conflict.
@funkomi Why not refinance if you current loan is uncompetitive? Personal loan rates are 5.4% upwards. Taking on a variable rate loan always comes with risks.
