100% positive that you never mentioned the word tariff during your campaign….Fake news! Thus your voters didn’t vote for something that was going to harm them economically. USA! USA! Stupid fucks.
I just got back from Mar-a-Lago, where Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and I sat down with Donald Trump. We tackled tariffs, pipelines, and why a strong Canada-U.S. partnership matters now more than ever.
I told Trump straight: the Trudeau policies have been a disaster, but Canada isn't done. Alberta has massive potential, and Danielle is leading the charge to bring capital back.
If Mr. O’Leary was so concerned with Canada, why did he turn his back on Canada when he failed at becoming the leader of the Fed. Cons party. Now he cares? Stick with Shark Tank. #opportunistic
There will be a change in fed gov. in 2025. The Cons. Party in waiting should be using this time to develop new direction on “ job creation, inflation, the housing crisis, and addressing crime.” Michelle should help the Conservative leader transition from a pit bull to a PM.
@CWhitzman @MikePMoffatt Managing these types of projects ie financing, permitting finding good trades is difficult. Now dealing with tenants, income tax implications, and increased property tax. More homework needs to be done. CMHC was researching this same matter 25 yrs ago.
@carolynhparrish Even if the funding comes and shelter space is created, there’s no affordable housing options for people to graduate to. Lack of supply across the housing spectrum is an issue for everyone!
@MikePMoffatt@CBCSunday Mike, I appreciate the attention ur generating. Suggestion: governments need plans/programs that extend beyond 4 yr terms. Also, governments can’t wait to act when they’re close to expiration. New govt means we start all over again.
@MikePMoffatt Mike, please properly contextualize what a pre budget and budget announced objective is. At this time the announcements related to affordable housing are not programs nor is there any funding commitments. Pls help to educate.
@jen_keesmaat Please be responsible and educate your followers on how the federal budget works and how programs may/may not evolve. All these announcements must be understood within proper context. It’s a bit of affordable housing whitewashing.
@CWhitzman Pre budget statements and budget announcements don’t always = programs. The months/years after the budget is what we need to hold government accountable for. I hope the younger people understand how these things work.
@benmyers29 People don’t get that most munic. have rental protection by-laws that make it very difficult to convert from PBR to condo. With today’s low vacancy rates there won’t be any convos happening.
@jen_keesmaat The Mayor of Hamilton could have exercised the Strong Mayor power to override the decision to allow the parking lot to be redeveloped for housing.
@saadbaig3 We must build a lot more of everything across the housing continuum, from emergency shelters, community housing, market rental, market ownership (low rise and multi-res).
CMHC just released its annual #RentalMarket survey. Canada’s vacancy rate is now at a historic low of 1.5%.
In #Toronto: Purpose-built rental vacancy is 1.5%. Condominium rental vacancy is 0.7%.
Key take away: We must build a LOT more rental! 🏗️ 🏠
