Politics ruins everything. Not in and of itself, as it is merely the control mechanism to encapsulate power which then serves as the engine for corrupt activity. It's a beautifully constructed racket that vastly improves upon the La Cosa Nostra model. Politics recruits the foot soldiers, many of which are just useful idiots.
Most businesses of medium to large size will work to find a way to gain advantage over competition, within a properly regulated market, this works to drive efficiency and innovation. When the industry is a basic human need (health, energy, food, tech, etc) the big industry leaders no longer worry about their offerings falling out of favor and instead turn to government to cement their "market" power and over new competition that would otherwise keep prices and supply in check. This is, by design, no longer a market. It's oligarchy, even supported by the political side that claims to fight against such power.
In healthcare, the consumer first gave up their power to insurance, then insurance "partnered" with a government that is majority funded by the oligarchs (campaigns, FDA studies, etc). Ironic to hear the people complain that the system isn't working while never looking at their own actions to find out how we got here. Like the gambler that wonders why his house is being foreclosed upon, must be those darn banks.
@DrMikemacmillan@DrDiGiorgio No reasonable person believes in NO regulation of markets. I think you (purposefully?) missed the doctor's point about the ever present hypocrisy/disingenuousness of one ideology blaming something without acknowledging it's existence is solely due to the same ideology
@adesantisb@DrDiGiorgio@MarkRuffalo With all of the recent revelations of massive government fraud, it blows my mind to think people still see “Medicare for all” as a solution (not to mention the economic mayhem that would ensue)
@adesantisb@DrDiGiorgio Not to be rude, but the benefits you trumpet for single payer are fantasy. Catastrophic coverage would solve the problem you state, universal single payer care is an economic nightmare (supply gets limited by infinite demand as the marginal cost of consuming approaches zero).
@certaresnovis@RobertKennedyJr You need to step away from the keyboard a bit more often, seems this online life has you all uptight. Relax Dude, all's fine
