Got a 4 p.m. practice?
A solid lunch at school, a snack like a banana or a sandwich in the early afternoon, and a recovery snack right after practice, before the drive home.

JUCO is not a consolation prize.
It can mean more at-bats or innings, time to grow, and a second chance to be recruited.
Indiana-area JUCO programs on our list: Vincennes, Wabash Valley, Lincoln Trail, John A. Logan and Danville Area.

Parents: coaches recruit the whole player. Physical tools, how he competes, his grades and how he acts when things go wrong.
Many families focus only on stats and rankings and miss what actually moves a coach.
#INbaseball
Myth: a higher ranking gets a player recruited.
Fact: coaches judge the player, not the ranking. Spend on training and the right events, not on raising a profile score.

New in The Dugout: Fall to Winter.
Food, recovery, strength and second sports, put together into one simple off-season plan. Plus a sample week and a 5-step checklist for families.
Spring players are built in the winter. Link below.
Parents: your son can email a college coach at any age. The rules limit what coaches can send back, not what he sends.
D-I baseball coaches can start calls, texts and emails Aug. 1 before junior year.

Great article to answer my earlier question about college baseball coaches’ preference for multi-sport athletes! Thanks, @inbaseballhub! @RecruitParent1
@BaseballDad2028 Most coaches love it honestly. Shows athleticism and keeps kids from burning out. We wrote up which sports carry over best if it helps: https://t.co/QNuwFhFu1W
My 2028 is a multi-sport athlete. He is working to be recruited for college baseball. Fresh and soph years, he played football, basketball, and baseball. He decided not to play football during current junior year to have more time for classes and baseball development. Risk of injury is also a concern. I know time is finite and other sports took away from his baseball development over the years and he would have been farther along with his metrics. But I wouldn’t have wanted him to limit his athleticism to just one sport…in this case, baseball.
Question for @coachdrew94, @GrahamD14, @PeterMichael00, @TweetsbyCoachP, @TroyPSilva, @CoachBeede, other current/former coaches, and college baseball recruiting experts—Do college baseball coaches GENERALLY like or prefer multi-sport athletes? Is it an advantage or disadvantage?
Thanks to @DanCevette for expressing his supportive opinion on X.
Thanks in advance for your honest and constructive feedback.

@coachwwest I would circle back with them with any significant info or progress - grades, improved metrics, game performance, more videos. But would give it some time before reaching out after sending that film. Coaches are busy. Need to give them time to respond.

Thanks and he is focused in the weight room and baseball development on the weekends. He is 6’2, 201libs. Baseball metrics are not where they need to be to be a D1 level talent for HS spring baseball season, but he will try to get there. Still unlikely anyway that he will be recruited for D1 which he is totally fine with. Playing baseball at a great school where he fits is the goal.
Hey Coach Prince, my son’s soph year was varsity football starter as LB, TE, and special teams. He was the 6th man last season for HS varsity basketball and will be a starter this upcoming season. Was starter on HS JV baseball team as freshman. He played some quality innings during soph year on HS varsity baseball team - OF and RHP in relief. Will be varsity baseball starter in Spring 2027 as junior.
@YaoMingsLawyer Thanks, Maximus, for your perspective. Hopefully players and parents see this chat and have a better perspective on what they need to do vs. what they want to do or what they “love” to do.
