He engaged with philosophy in order to deconstruct the metaphysics upon which the philosophers operated and to lead them away from their falsehood and toward Islam. It is not our paradigm.

@emuse1955 When it comes to other faith traditions, he likewise gives them a level of scrutiny that would immediately disqualify his own faith tradition. Overall, I do not consider the man to be an honest interlocutor. Just my two cents.

@emuse1955 As an outsider (I am Muslim), I can very well say that I have seen Jacob repeatedly engage in dishonesty. I see him represent his opponents' views in the least favorable manner, which is ironic given that he accuses anti-Mormon polemicists of doing the same.

@AnonymousWrest2 @logos_asarkos Wouldn't it be necessary in order to know how the disciples practiced the faith? The NT doesn't mention every detail, as far as I am aware. Take, for example, fasting: how does one properly fast according to the NT? The details are not specified.

The works of the Scholastics are all entirely in Latin, so I suppose there is an interest in that too.
