Rahmโs ignorance is the disaster.
โIsrael allegedly failed in Europe and America, but it picked Somaliland.โ
That is a false equation.
Working with Somaliland does not come at the expense of winning in Washington or Europe.
Somaliland is already in Americaโs national interest. It has been mentioned in several congressional bills and acts, discussed in policy circles, and appears in the Project 2025 blueprint.
Somaliland is already on the US scoreboard. Israel simply accelerated the play and moved in later in the game.
Israel is not alone. The UAE, Ethiopia and Taiwan have all formed unofficial links with Somaliland, many of them stronger in practice than formal relationships between recognised states.
Furthermore, the US has defended Israelโs recognition at the UN Security Council. From Israelโs perspective, being the first to recognise a country is a power move usually reserved for superpowers and rising middle powers.
For Israel, this is a geopolitical win. Only a naive person would miss that.
And as for America and Israel, donโt jump ahead. Watch what happens in the coming days when US and Israeli leaders meet.
The real question is this:
What did the Clinton class of politicians like yourself actually achieve after 20 years of backing Somalia over Somaliland?
And who is going to pick you up politically now that the Democratic establishment has moved on and the socialists have outcast you?

Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro held a phone call with President Donald Trump, congratulating the U.S. on its 250th Independence Day anniversary.
According to Somalilandโs presidency, the leaders discussed strengthening ties, expanding cooperation, and deepening relations between Somaliland and Washington.
BIG UPDATE: Somaliland President:
I was elected to serve Somaliland, not to speak for Palestine.
Somaliland first. Not Palestine first.
Do you agree with him??
Somaliland recognition is NOT a blueprint for African fragmentation.
It is the correction of a failed union. Somaliland was an independent state in 1960 before entering a short-lived and dysfunctional merger with Somalia. Its case rests on state continuity, not on encouraging new secessions elsewhere.
Treating Somaliland as a dangerous precedent ignores history and traps both Somaliland and Somalia in a dysfunctional status quo. One restored its sovereignty in 1991.The other has spent decades failing to govern it.
Different histories require different outcomes.
Gluing incompatible realities together has only prolonged instability.
"The remarks by Turkey's Foreign Minister are a clear call for genocide. The Jewish people know all too well what happens when such words are allowed to go unanswered. The first step on the road to genocide is dehumanization."

A remarkable scene from the heart of Hargeisa, Somaliland, as the American Independence Day was celebrated in our capital. ๐บ๐ธ
A simple but meaningful reflection of the goodwill the people of Somaliland hold toward the United States.
BREAKING: Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud used remarks that critics have described as antisemitic, saying: "The Jews are a bad people, and welcoming them is a disgrace. You have nothing to do with them; your Somali brothers are the ones who matter to you."
The comments were made during Somalia's July 1 commemoration and have drawn condemnation from critics, who say the rhetoric targets #Jewish people.
