For the average person things are not better our society is falling apart and middle class is bobbing up and down trying to keep their heads above the water. Plus everyone is scared they are going to lose their job and not be able to get another. When living paycheck to paycheck that is a hell of a way to live always with fear and anxiety you could lose everything
