🎉So excited to share my 1st first-author paper is out now in @GeolSoc journal #ES3 looking at methane and CO2 gas signatures at the Glasgow UKGEOS site.

Massive thanks to @stugilfillan, @geogareth, and @AdrianSuerc for all your help!

Great talk from @stugilfillan on oxygen isotope equilibrium exchange between CO2 and water during fluid cycling at #goldschmidt22! And well done for surviving the 03:30 UK-time talk slot 😅

[Rebecca Chambers @BeccaMChambers]

It’s been nearly 2 1/2 years since attending an in-person conference… but #goldschmidt22 is a great one to get back into the swing of things!

A couple of great (weather-variable) days looking at contacts between the Borrowdale Volcanics and a suite of Ordovician-Silurian sedimentary rocks in the Lake District. Final mapping day today!

Delighted to have been involved in making this video introducing a circular geothermal heat network to #decarbonize #heat developed with amazing colleagues in @GeosciencesEd @fktodd @ReceveurMylene @BeccaMChambers and others. #COP26 1/2

[Durham Energy Institute @DEI_durham]

Researchers at @EdinburghUni and @EcusEnvironment present the #geobattery that recycles excess heat from industry to recharge shallow geothermal resources, using natural #groundwater flow to redistribute this heat. This could ensure long-term #sustainability and #DecarboniseHeat.

[Rebecca Chambers @BeccaMChambers]

@sallylaw @GeoSalCam Congrats Sally!! 😍

[Rebecca Chambers @BeccaMChambers]

@fktodd @imolnar Forever battling with autocorrect over outwith being a valid word

[Andrew (Gus) Fraser-Harris @gus_fh175]

Looking forward to the geothermal symposium on minewater heating and cooling today! Good luck @fktodd of @GeosciencesEd and all the other speakers. Hopefully another step towards maximising #CleanEnergyFromTheCoalfields

[Rebecca Chambers @BeccaMChambers]

@Hannah_Rogers94 @GeosciencesEd Pretty happy not to have the pressure of baking something this year... less happy not seeing my fellow attic dwellers though! 🧁

Geoscientists are using to discover..

🌡️ How is warm water moving underground?
🔄Can we use it to heat homes and businesses?

Was an overall slightly pitchy performance, but full of passion and conviction. Would rate 8/10 as a late night serenade 😂

A recent survey of Post-Grad students has shown that these are key feelings during lockdown. PhDs are stressful at the best of times, it's so important that we check in on one another. #phdlife #mentalhealth #Wellbeing #phdchat

Hey @GeosciencesEd
In honour of your lovely city, Curiosity decided to name its latest drill hole 'Edinburgh'. Soon she will be munching away at the lovely Edinburgh rock powder .. yum yum! wonder what geochemical wonders will abound..

[Edinburgh GeoEnergy @EdinGeoenergy]

At the start of the week group members @BeccaMChambers and @stugilfillan joined the @BGSGroundwater sampling team for collection of water samples from groundwater wells in Yorkshire - both have just about defrosted!

[Stuart Gilfillan @stugilfillan]

What can only be described as a 'character building' day in the field with @BGSGroundwater today collecting water samples for noble gas analysis as part of @BeccaMChambers PhD project

Hats off to the sampling team who have another week and half to do - hope it warms up a bit!
