The gestation of my edition of Agamemnon, especially the third trimester, has been unusually painful. But it will be out soonish. Much inspired by Froma Zeitlin's peerless scholarship and @HelenEastman's peerless production. Drawing of precious vase fragment by @Becky_Brewis
There are hardly any ancient pictures of Clytemnestra preparing to give Agamemnon a thwack in the bath. These two wonderful drawings of two there are by @Becky_Brewis will be cover and frontispiece of my forthcoming commentary with Aris&Phillips/Liverpool Uni Press. @clare_litt
Huge thank you @UoEArtColl for selecting this mixed media embroidery on jute, called 'Tooth', presented as part of my online degree show: https://t.co/rhEK9oe9pn
During Degree Shows at ECA, the @UoEArtColl selects work by students to become a permanent part of the Collection. The five artists selected this year each receive £1500 and will be represented in the Collection by a work made during their final year. https://t.co/AKkLQQtQxf

Inspired by @Becky_Brewis, I will be asking my students this semester to make their own anatomical #votives as a way to explore #cognitive & #sensory aspects of religious #ritual. Below is my own, trial-run votive which is both a food and anatomical offering:
I've sent to press an article about Cedalion, Hephaestus/Vulcan's metallurgy tutor, who was small.
Becky Brewis has made brilliant drawings of the rare classical images of him; where Hera is enchained, it may be that Hephaestus himself has melded with his teacher to become tiny
@e_jgraham This is so interesting! Thanks for the info and for the photos - lovely to see these (vividly) coloured ones. Mine were looking really quite dull, so this will perk them up. Thanks a lot E-J!
@e_jgraham Hello - Henry Stead introduced me to your really interesting votives project and, inspired, I've just made some (copies of) votive wombs out of clay. But I wondered if the originals were ever painted? You seemed the person to ask - would love any pointers! Many thanks
Let's have a go... A People's History of Classics pic 17/90: Rev. George Martin (1864-1946), 'The Saint of Southwark' drawn by @Becky_Brewis. He resigned a lucrative benefice in Cornwall to attend to the working poor in S. London. Also taught people ancient Greek. @edithmayhall
Thank you for your suggestions. Here is the 'A People's History of Classics' Google Map which we used to visualise the majority of the classical encounters in our book. https://t.co/NyvfJyutMA Thanks too to @Becky_Brewis for her fine pencilmanship!
The @cultureland.nl project brief, ‘The end of nature as we know it’ has led me to the Amsterdam Spinhuis, an old correctional house designed to keep wayward women busy through spinning and sewing - so that's what I've been doing in the Netherlands: https://t.co/D4KMyTjWyi
A full house tonight at #ArtandPhilosophy panel discussion. @Becky_Brewis is asked what capacity does history of art & philosophy play in your work? She says: ‘The history of monochrome is a mini art history in itself. I found myself thinking that a lot when making these works.’
