@ProudSocialist That policy no longer makes sense.
The whole birth tourism situation provides the evidence that it should be changed by some mechanism.
@russelldobular@ThatChrisGore When the Left goes with an identitarian ideology, it pushes people in identity groups targeted by the ideology to become tribal out of political necessity.
What else is to be expected if the Left's rhetoric sounds very much like Nazi rhetoric?
@AlFaris14299031@Bushra1Shaikh Not sure I understand the point you are trying to make with that statement.
If you're making an argument about tolerance or thriving of minority religions in Islamic-majority countries, the evidence is mixed (at best).
@Bushra1Shaikh How would you even know the number or relative increase/decrease of such attacks?
Sounds like you can't get that data from the gov't (at least for Christian buildings).
@AlFaris14299031@Bushra1Shaikh Tell us about historic policies in countries that are Muslim-dominant. Did they actually allow non-Muslim groups to thrive?
How many today punish proselytizing by minority religions, apostasy (only by Muslims), restrict practice of minority religions (no houses of worship), etc.?
@AlFaris14299031@Bushra1Shaikh I love when people use Muslim majority countries where Christianity still exists as evidence of tolerance.
Such situations may simply be a work in progress where the outcomes will eventually be Islamic nationalism and/or lower tolerance.
@ProudSocialist The problem is that the definition of the term genocide has been expanded so much that it can be applied to almost any situation involving conflict or displacement.
So, their use of the term probably actually fits in some way.
@Bushra1Shaikh Islam certainly isn't indigenous to the West nor a part of its historic traditions.
Claiming a right to a society simply because a group has arrived and "established" themselves sounds a lot like colonialism.
@TheTinMenBlog Very nice.
DEI is full of terms tied to identity, but done indirectly enough for people to claim it's not a direct attack on an identity group.
But, if the outcome is still identity hate, then the distinction doesn't really matter.
@FischerKing64 Sure. Many in the West were raised on liberal messaging about the planet being overpopulated, so why would we object?
But I also question your premise which seems to assume migration is the only viable solution to population decline.
@JamesSurowiecki@TheRightColumn@jessesingal The programs are a feeding trough for wealthy people who sit on the boards of NGOs or hold senior level-positions taking a healthy six-figure salary (often as a 2nd, 3rd, 4th income).
@PoliticalJudo@ProudSocialist When I hear those terms today, it just sounds like people have simply embraced an ideology and repeat common phrases because they can't actually explain anything.
@krystalball This is just how the Left thinks now. If a system doesn't currently benefit them, they just claim it's a problem that must be changed so it benefits them.
DEI was the same way. Systems were only acceptable if the desired groups had better outcomes.
@russelldobular@ThatChrisGore The people who were raised on sci-fi were taught liberal values.
The Left today isn't liberal -- even they will tell you that.
It's kind of obvious since they've even embraced identitarianism.
