They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
Whilst it was obvious the building and stored property could not be saved it was important to prevent fire spread to neighbouring buildings.
2x Hose Reel jets, 1x 45mm Jet and 2x BA wearers were used to extinguish the fire with water sourced from a nearby hydrant.

On Wednesday morning Lazonby and Penrith crews were mobilised to an outbuilding fire at Melkinthorpe.
On arrival crews were met by a well established building fire which had almost completely destroyed the structure.
๐ Between 6.30pm and 9.00pm tomorrow (01/10/25) several CFRS crews will be taking part in a training exercise at Lazonby Auction Mart.
Do not be alarmed if you notice an increased number of service vehicles in the village and by the river during this time.
Last night, the crew gathered at the River Eden, Langwathby Bridge. Along with neighbouring crew, Alston. This drill night was lead by a CFRS Swift Water Technician. The session was provided to allow us to practice water rescue techniques and improve our knowledge
