President Biden, July 8, 2024: "We’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye."
Defend that. Go ahead.
Try to defend that rhetoric after what we all just witnessed with Trump coming with a centimeter of being assassinated.
Another successful year at the Neurological Institute Forum for Trainees Research Day! Our PGY-4s presented some of the research they have been working on throughout their residency. It’s great seeing the research being done within our department and institute #PMR#Physiatry
Studies have shown that people in mid-to-later life who are unable to stand on one leg for 10 seconds are twice as likely to die within 10 years when compared to their counterparts who are able.
These people are practicing for reps.
Train or die. Literally.
Live better.
Choice is yours.

I often hear from people that they are afraid to exercise. That is a reasonable fear. Injuries might happen if you perform resistance exercises. But you should fear the effects of not exercising more. You should fear the onset of frailty more.

Our residents were able to further hone their diagnostic ultrasound skills. Dr. Mitchkash led us through scans of the wrist and hand, and we were able to find some pathology on our own scans! #PMR#ultrasound#mskultrasound#sportsmed#physiatry
🏋️♂️ Debunking CrossFit Misconceptions: A Thread for Physicians 🩺
Misconception: CrossFit is dangerous for the average person. Let's address this head-on and equip physicians with key insights to guide their patients safely through their fitness journey. 💪
1.🔧 Mechanics, Consistency, Intensity: Physicians should inform patients that the core of CrossFit methodology emphasizes mechanics, consistency, THEN intensity. If a patient encounters a coach who is encouraging higher loads without proper emphasis on mechanics first, the patient should seek a new coach and/or inform the affiliate’s owner of the experience with the coach.
2.🚫 No Room for Ego: Egotistical loading of the bar and/or disregard of coach corrections will increase the risk for injury. While the CrossFit methodology encourages measuring time and recording loads, ultimately, outside of elite competition, the main purpose of logging these values is to encourage one another in the gym and to track individual progress over time.
Ego has no place in the CrossFit affiliate.
3. ⚖️ Risk vs. Reward: Every physical activity has some risk of injury. In fact, statistics have consistently shown that exercise in a CrossFit affiliate is one of the least likely activities to result in injury relative to many other common sports. No physician would tell a patient “never go running,” and CrossFit should be held to the same standard. A superb resource is the CrossFit Health presentation by @AmyWestMD (CFMD-L2).
4.🩹 Injury Modifications: Some chronic or acute injuries will require modifications to prescribed workout movements. CrossFit physicians should remain available to patients to advise them on modifications and/or refer them to a qualified physical therapist or specialist.
Let's break the stigma surrounding CrossFit and empower physicians to guide patients toward a safe, effective fitness journey. Spread the word. 🌎

@KenCarman@SportsBoyTony I just got to listen to your interview with @joethomas73 from yesterday. This is the reason for the difference in play of the defense when home vs. away. We don’t have the Browns magic gnome in section 344 traveling for away games. Happens every 3rd down
