@thanh_neville The real answer is that the process of successful organ/tissue donation involves obtaining a full and thorough medical and social history on the donor, and if the family will not cooperate with providing that, then you are unable to proceed regardless of the deceased wishes.
@Gabby_Brauner27 I’ll never forgot the time my PA professor told us about SEW. It stands for shoulder-elbow-wrist and it helps you remember the joints in the arm. Very high yield.
In 1959, Eugene Ionesco wrote the absurdist play Rhinoceros in which one by one, an entire town of people suddenly transform into rhinos. At first, people are horrified but as the contagion spreads, (almost) everyone comes to accept that turning into a rhinoceros is fine. 1/
Human: we have a color named after you!
Salmon: really? is it silvery blue like my outsides?
Human: no, uh–
Salmon: wait why is it pink?
Human: ...
Salmon: WHY IS IT PINK
@Peds_Ortho This has always made such complete sense to me. I’m surprised there isn’t a gold standard handbook for clear instructional vocabulary vs “terms to avoid” for best communication from parents and coaches in every sport. Seems like such a fixable problem.
It’s crazy to me that as a PA, all I needed to do was pass PA school and be interested in ortho for me to now be hired and working in an awesome orthopedic practice. Sure I did really well in school, but nobody has ever asked about it or wanted to see my test scores.
I don’t know why this needs to be said, but people who work in orthopedics don’t get excited when there is a new trend/challenge going around that injures people. #milkcratechallenge
Why do surgeons give their patients post-op education pages with acronyms like WBAT, PROM, and AROM without ever defining it. Why do we just assume patients know what “WB status: NWB” means. I see this constantly when Im googling and finding other practice’s protocols.
@DrDave01 I can’t imagine being unvaccinated, and doing literally anything else in my life that would be more important than finding a place that could vaccinate me ASAP.
