@pmakela1 OK, bayonet training (and combatives in general) were invented because it was generally believed it ingrains some form of "spirit of offense" within soldiers.
The Brits were very obsessed with "Bayonet Power" to describe the mass power of an infantry squad.

Regarding that front I'd say about 80% of "kill house" trainings are pointless and out of touch with reality.
Typically what happens is armies gradually loses ideas on why the drills were invented.
